Where should I go tonight — Brooklynian

Where should I go tonight

edited November -1 in Park Slope
my friend is coming in from Manhattan (a rarity), and I haven't been out around here in ages.

He needs to eat something (not picky) and then we'll drink :-)

I want to go someplace where if we don't want to stay there, it won't be hard to walk somewhere else.

I'm 41, he's 45....so no hipster 20-something filled places, please. Of course, we still know how to party, I just don't want us getting arrested :-)

I'm in S. Slope, WT....was thinking of starting at Sidecar and moving south, but I can't remember where the new places are on lower 5th and what they're called

  • sidecar is def. good start for fud; you could wander down to Vin Rouge the wine bar afterwards. the backyard should be v. nice tonight :)
  • thank you! I couldn't remember what Vin Rouge was called......that could work.

I wouldn't mind seeing some live music or something (but not a crowded show).....

Wait, what? You know I have no suggestions about good places to go out but I couldn't let this pass. No way you are 41, nuh uh, don't believe it.
  • it's true! just turned 41 this month....what can I say? I'm getting better with age....just like the wine you know I like :-)

btw, I went to Sidecar .....excellent burger/fries and beer, walked past Vin Rouge (empty), past Euro Trip (some people, but not appealing enough to enter, especially not too keen on the name) and then stopped in Toby's Public House (10 people or so, but nice enough)
  • Ok, you do not look 41, I thought mid 30's. And I'd think that way even if we weren't friends! :D

i live around the corner of euro trip, but i must say... the couple times we've eaten there, we've split 5 small dishes/langos and coupled with the $3 pints/$6 Litres/$9 Pitchers of their house beer.... although we haven't had the entree's, i have to totally recommend this place. $70 for 4 people, split 4 ways... an excellent way to kill an hour. the waitstaff can seem a little new, but don't be turned off the name and the entree prices, like we were.

That's funny, I just came to this thread to mention that we went to Euro Trip as well this weekend. We had the house beer (a Czech brand--can't remember the name) which was nice for $3 a pint. Also, we tried their Hungarian flat breads (they look like a little personal pizza). Very very good. They used great ingredients--awesome bread, emmenthal, yummy meat. We had 4 beers and 2 flat breads and it only cost $26. My husband said it definitely reminded him of a lot of the places they went to in Germany on their last tour. Authentic to the local spots over there.
