I haven't gotten around to trying the east side greenway, sorry I can't give you more advice. However, just looking at the maps and from crossing those bridges many times, I have one suggestion. Unless you need to ride across the Brooklyn Bridge in particular, it looks like its easier to get on from the Manhattan Bridge. From the Brooklyn Bridge it looks like you have to double back or ride north pretty far to get on.
Hopefully, someone who has actually done the ride can chime in here... -
Oh, and if you do take the Manhattan bridge DON'T go down Jay to get there. Its kinda dangerous--too much double parking. Take Adams St to Sands St.

Depending on what time you are going, Manhattan Bridge is way better than Brooklyn Bridge because it has a physically separate bike route and you don't have to deal with people stepping out into your path. As much.

I get bike-rage when I encounter walkers/runners on the bike path on Manhattan Bridge. I want to squish their heads. -

With your considerable head squishing talents, I think we are fully qualified for that midnight park ride.

Are you the guy who yells "Get out of the way" at old ladies on the bridge?
Howdy, Stranger!
