brazen head bar/union hall
ok, i just wanted to vent for a minute...
some of you may have heard how lou sones, the owner of brazen head bar on atlantic was the guy who started the motion to have union hall's liquor license revoked or not renewed as the case may be...(it ended up being renewed so i suppose it's a moot point).
so some people had suggested posting some reviews on citysearch about this guy lou...who is in direct competition with floyds bar (same owners as union hall)...which is located right near brazen head...
a bunch of people posted reviews for brazen head in anger over this guy's very clear conflict of interest in trying to sabatoge union hall.
there were maybe 5 or 6 reviews posted about what lou did and they have all been removed from citysearch.
does this seem right? i'm not sure how i feel about it.
can an owner of a business just take it up with citysearch and have the reviews he/she does not like removed??
i have no personal stake in all of this (although i'm very happy union hall prevailed) but something just seems really fishy about that to me...

I go to citysearch in hope of finding truthful accounts of people's experiences. On citysearch, all I want to know about a bar is how good is the beer, is it "romantic" or "good for groups," how overpriced the drinks are, and whether or not the bartender is a jerk. I'm fine with coming here for the personal bickering between Brooklyn's business owners.

On a similar note, Yelp has removed 3 postings I've made about my boyfriend's tattoo shop (where I HAVE been tattooed.) They really have no way of associating me with him, so I have no idea why they would remove my posting. I know other business owners who have said yelp/citysearch delete reviews randomly.

carmen, on a side note, is he a good tattoist? really good? -

Not to be a cocky beyatch but yes
He's been doing it for 18 years, has won prolly about 15 awards, travels internationally and has been featured in at least 50 magazines.
What are you interested in getting? He's kind of niche- he can do anything but he concentrates on portraits or human-like figures/faces and mostly does black and gray although he loves color work as well. He doesn't do traditional or tribal if he can help it and he hates doing lettering although thats what he's doing for me next
PM me and I can let you know more if you want! Plus his shop has some great traditional artists so im sure someone can fit your needs.

Carmen, can you post your tattoos?

the tattoo stuff should be another thread--and would generate alot more responses on its own. Including your humble narrator. Back to the OP.
I hate the fact of what that guy did, and I wonder if he was able to remove it through Yelp. It's weird, I read reviews online, but it seems that people get motivated to write them out of anger. So many folks can love a place, but it's the one angry, unhappy customer who posts....so i don't know how much to trust these sites.... -
See, I really like the Brazen Head - the bartenders and Lou have always been lovely to my husband and I, and I think their beer selection's stupendous. I think that what's been going on with Union Hall stinks, but I don't think that's any reason to post nasty reviews on Citysearch (or anywhere else, really). I know a lot of people can't remove a person's politics from their perceptions of that person's business. If said people feel the need to boycott a business because of the owner's actions, go for it. I'm staying away from the Brazen Head mostly because my husband and I don't want to annoy any of their patrons by taking our infant-in-stroller into the bar with us... just like Union Hall forbids.

I don't have very many, I can provide a link to my boyfriend's work though. The stuff he's done for me isn't really representative of his style of work.
To chip- i agree it should be in its own thread, but I'm not going to shill (sp?) for my bf or anything so if anyone wants to start a thread, I'll be happy to participate
To the OP- sorry to derail, I just wanted to bring up that i've had experience with deleted yelp posts before. -
no probelm!
i'm interested in hearing about the tattoos also! maybe i'll finally be inspired to go ahead and get one!
