Ha!
I have no flash, but I do have three tattoos. I am not familiar with Monster tattoo- where is that located? I googled but got nothing... -
Yea I'm not sure if I know of this place. I kinda only recall noticing one maybe two tattoo shops in the area. But it's been a while since I've been able to afford more work I was never really on the look out (until now, I need more ink yo).

The only shop I know of is Hand of Glory on 7th near 15th.
Shameless plug- my boyfriend is a tattoo artist, so Im partial...if anyone wants info about his work let me know. I don't want to turn this into a thread of me getting flamed for recommending him. -
i would indeed like some info on his work. don't worry i've got a fire extinguisher handy should any flames be cast. like i said, i need new ink yo.

carmen, is he at hands of glory? they do great work there.

Subject: Third Eye Tattoo
I can't speak for the places/people that have already been posted about here but I can make my own suggestion for a place to go in Park Slope. Louis Andrew at Third Eye Tattoo is great. The shop is on Union Street (between 4th & 5th Avenues but closer to 5th). Great artist and a nice guy. Be prepared to make an appointment in advance though since he rarely has time for walk-ins. He has a great portfolio album in the shop if you want to wander in to take a look.
The shop doesn't haven't a site that I know of but Louis does:
http://www.louisandrew.com
Hope that helps...
Holly
(Slight update to my own post... I updated my profile picture with the panda tattoo that Louis did for me. I have since added some bamboo under the panda that goes all the way around my arm but I don't have a picture of that laying around.) -
My boyfriend does not work at Hand of Glory- if anyone's interested he works at East Side Ink on ave B bt 6-7th. He does primarily black/gray work with an emphasis on portraits but does almost anything non-traditional/tribal

If anyone's interested his name is Ethan Morgan and he's on the myspazz at myspace.com/ethanmorgan or the shop's site is http://www.eastsideinktattoo.com/ and a sample of everyone's work is on there. I love the shop and all the guys in there are awesome and sweet...walkins are welcome but you'll most likely get one of the newer guys. Appointments are pretty much required for Ethan, Patrick, Josh and Mark. And, for reference, Andrea no longer works at the shop (which is sad to anyone that knows anything about the NYC tattooing scene...she's gone to texas!) -

MotherFUCKER! I've been on her list for awhile now. I wasn't planning to check back until Oct/Nov. I suppose I'll need to make new plans. Fucking Arg. -
^She may be sticking around and tattooing people with appointments or something? Did you actually have an appt or something verifiable? I can ask Ethan to check on this for you.
-
oh, and she JUST left, Sat was her last day so there's still hope maybe!
-
I don't have an appointment, I got on her waiting list with a name and number at some point last year, they figured she was booking a year or so out at the time. But of course you never really know how long stuff will take and who will flake out. Except by experience. Of which there was a lot. Obviously.
My loss for being a massively picky bitch and taking forever to come to decisions. Is she opening or joining a shop in TX? Or is she planning to do something else now? -
carmen: I hate full color tats but have two black & skin ones I'd love to update with some grey work or something. both were done quickly - one was my firstie over 15 years ago (a half moon in a vague tribal design between my boobs - I don't think I love it as much anymore and need either to fill it in or do something else with it) and the other is a guadalupe that I got mostly because I have panic/anxiety related issues with flying without an icon (YES, I am insane. just ignore my madness.) in SF when I'd lost an icon of hers I was carrying. would your BF be able to work with me on these? I love my tats, really, and have no interest in ever getting rid of them. I just want to get them updated to my age now, as opposed to when I received them and the styles at those times that were easily (and cheaply, especially the firstie) available.

a lil late here, but yeah, I meant HAND OF GLORY!! I get those 2 places confused.

Andrea is still at East Side Ink through this Friday; I lucked out and got an appt for tomorrow so she can finish my arm piece. Not sure if she's opening a new shop or joining one, but she will be tattooing in TX, near Austin. She has a myspace page with the address and more info.

We stand corrected then...I thought her going away party was saturday. Nevermind. -
I think the additional week was added on at the last minute.

primarily black/gray work is exactly the kind i'm looking for. i dont have any color tattoos and don't plan on getting any. all my friends are covered in colors so i'm gonna be the odd man out within our group of ink fiends

Jeff @ Hand Of Glory is excellent.
