Recommend Bike Shop for quick repair

I've had good experiences (generally speaking) with Dixon's Bicycle Shop on Union between 6th and 7th and The Bicycle Station on Vanderbilt and Dean.

I don't know much about fixed gear bikes or the installations of brakes so I'm not sure if it can happen within an hour. But good luck to you.

Definitely Dixon's. Definitely not R&A. They might be the place for high-end, but it's pretty well known that their service (and attitude) suck. We bought our bikes from R&A when we first got to the Slope. Spent almost $1000, and when I went back a few hours later to pick up my bike, they had sold it. I was on a tight schedule (about to leave town for my wedding), which they new when I scheduled the pick-up, but ended up having to come back after they assembled a new one. I also went back a couple of times to ask a question and pick up accessories, and walked out both times after being ignored for 10+ minutes. Found out later that that is the norm. I know a few competitive cyclists who will go into Manhattan rather than go down the block to R&A. Been going to Dixon's ever since, and I'm always happy with their service and prices,

I wanted to like On The Move, but decided due to their service that i wouldn't purchase a bike there. I had originally gone to Dixons...I'm hard to fit and they had none in stock. I then called On the Move...they told me they had what I needed in stock...when I got there, they didn't.
The woman who waited on me started doing 3 other things and left me there. Another woman was telling a guy that they were very busy that day and it was a bad day for him to come. I made a decision then and there to buy my bike at Dixons (which I have since done). No attitude, very helpful, and did every adjustment I needed.
