  • My review will be brief as I have to pack BUT-

Amazingly friendly staff, including the PR lady who was awesome and sweet. The shop is smaller than the other two locations but does not lack the style of feel of its sisters- approachable, informative and sexy would be the three words I would use to describe this shop. Discreet from the outside but passionate from within, I totally look forward to shopping here LOTS in the future. I watched an impromptu demonstration of the wooden toys (which looked amazing, no splinters!) and the girl demonstrating seemed very informed but not pushy.

Annnnd they gave us amazing giftbags and seemed generally very interested in the community and serving it to the best of its ability.

    Go shop here!
  • sounds good.....what's in the gift bag?
  • carmen said it so well, and so eloquently, i don't know that i have much more to add.

what i found most interesting, in speaking with claire cavanaugh, was that she says this is the first location they'd opened where there were no barriers to getting the space. they didn't have to make presentations, promise to be good/quiet neighbors, etc., as they apparently did at all of their other locations. it seems that PS welcomed them with open arms. i find that impressive
  • It was lovely. Very nice spread of food/wine. Clean elegant decor. Fun stuff for people not looking for dilldos.

My question is: can we post pictures? Or is that too XXX?
  • Pictures or it didn't happen :-)

Demonstrate?? Was it one of _those_ par-tays?!?
  • It was so much fun, I only wish more Brooklynians came. There was no "private party," anyone could enter and buy goods and partake of the free food. I loved the random people I ended up talking with.

it was pretty hot, mostly because of the brooklynian chicks ;)
  • So is this a combination sex shop/ baby store? I thought I heard they were catering to moms who needed rattles, blankets and so on.
  • just a sex shop that's very easy to feel comfortable in.
  • Would a male feel comfortable there shopping for a gift "for his wife"?
  • A male would feel comfortable shopping for a gift for himself as well. Speaking from experience.
  • I saw what I think, BP can correct me, was an orthodox jew buying a silver vibrator ( maybe it was a hassidic jew, but I didn't see a nordic woman -so I can't be sure) and the crowd was a good mix of couples and singles.

We got "media gift bags" and let's just say it was enough to keep a girl busy for the whole summer

i really, really wish you hadn't written this. in fact, i specifically asked you not to. and if it matters, it was a brown dildo. regardless, i got no creepy vibes from him.

Naw never!! As a catholic I was only there because it was a media event, otherwise I would NEVER shop at such a sinful place :P
  • Srsly it was a silver dildo, but he may have also been down with brown too.
Yeah for the fact that Babeland brings in everyone from the nabe! I love it!

Well there to go ladies all your lovin' needs in one pretty in pink store. Go. NOW! 8)
  • thanks for the visuals, Mami. As 8thandPrez points out, boys find things to buy too :-)
  • I don't think I understand a lot of that stuff. Arg! I am hopelessly out of touch. Do they have anything with electricity? Because, that would be, like, shocking and stuff.

I think I threw up a little bit in my mouth after seeing the pictures. So, are those oddly shaped gadgets in high demand?
  • oddly shaped???
  • So-what was in the media kit? I might have to drop by there today and check it out!
  • i'm underwhelmed by the whole thing. sex is sex, do what you want, but trying to make dildos "cute" makes me sick.
And mamacita, I take offense at "there you go ladies, all you need!" as if a chirpy kelly ripa sanctioned "GO" makes this crap any more palatable. I prefer my filth filthy.
    kthanks.

    Okaaaaaaaaaaaay

    Kelly Ripa?

You prefer your "filth flthy"? Good for you! =D>

    Chill out.

    kthanks.
  • (em, we miss you when you're away. stop leaving us.)
  • ^^ Here's an example of why Chicklynian could be a good idea...although I know a few gentlemen who would also get the THEY need there. ;)

It's not filthy. It's sex, and it should be fun.
  • Yo Chipster, if all those anal plugs are not filthy enough for you (pictured on the first page), I'm sure Babeland can outfit you with a ball gag and spinning anal vibrator.

I'll pitch in for the ball gag. Cuz I'm all friendly like Kelly Ripa.

I'm going to go dye my hair blond now.

it's cool with ME if sex is just for us grrls...but my understanding is that a significant subset of the population disagrees. :safe:
  • Yup. Including my hubby. That's why I included the rest of the sentence.
