I want to get Cable TV

Time Warner.

I have had Time Warner for the 3 years I've been in the Clinton Hill Coops, because they dont allow dish/satelite here. I get my broadband from them too. Works well for me. Brooklyn local news claims that it is not available on dish, so I guess at least one local program is not available on dish.

I would go cable. I've got DirecTV and there's no OnDemand and no local channels (NY1, BCAT, etc.)

I've had Directv for years. It's great. You get local channels but they have to be part of the package you select.
I have an old package that no longer exists, but I get local channels and most regular cable channels for $55 a month. HDTV is another $10. -
OK, I'm really lost. I've been looking at websites and I'm more confused.
What's DVR?
Do you have internet service with the cable TV? Is that worth it?
Thanks -

Hi
Just in case, you would like to be in "recession mode", antenna is fine to get HD TV over the air, it is Freeeeeee! And the signal strength for new yorkers is usually great, give it a try and you will save some $ -
There is a drawback with digital over the air if you are getting echoed signals your picture will keep going out as it constantly switches to the best source.
DVR = Digital Video Recorder, for Time Warner its like a weak TiVo. It also allows you to rewind and pause on shows as you watch them in addition to setting simple( borderline retarded) program recording options.
Internet is worth what you think it is- either you can't live without it or you can.
My biggest problem with TWC HD is that the box always defaults to 480p even tho my TV is 1080p so I have to reconfigure the display resolution which takes too long for something that happens all the time. I also would have the sound drop out but as long as my TV fully powers on first the sound outputs fine.
Howdy, Stranger!
