Is there a nice place a young lady meet people ? — Brooklynian

Is there a nice place a young lady meet people ?

Where can a nice, decent young woman go to socialize, mingle and meet other young people? Any social hangout spot? I live in Crown Heights. Where can I meet nice Caribbean/ Central American young people in Brooklyn to hang out with? (Male and females) To get a sense of belonging. After high school it seems hard to make friends. Work is not the same.

  • Well....you can always go to singles night at Brooklyn Tabernacle church on Smith St and Fulton. If that isnt your cup of tea and you dont mind traveling,Habana Outpost on Fulton St and South Portland or Night of the Cookers are great hang out spots .Habana Outpost is the place on weekends from noon till. Also the summer concerts in Prospect Park are happening and that is a nice hangout spot as well. Prospect Park West and 9th st entrance.Good luck.
  • If you want to try in the neighborhood, you can go to Tavern on Nostrand (Nostrand and Union) or 95 South (Franklin and St Johns). Tavern tends to have a more sedate crowd, with a lot of folks getting together to watch sports and the election returns. 95 South skews a bit younger but they have dancing as well as food and drinks. Also plenty of big screen tvs for sporting events. If you're a basketball fan the finals are a big draw there.
  • If your purpose is to meet nice Caribbean/Central American young people then Tavern on Nostrand is probably your best bet (haven't been there yet but I believe that a good amount of Caribbeans go there). There are nice crowds in each spot that guest11 and homeowner mentioned but the majority of people are not Caribbean or Central American. Also try some of those clubs on Empire up around Bedford on the weekend. Those are basically Carribbean hang outs.

BTW, homeowner hope all is going well with you and yours. It was great meeting you and your husband and spending some time at 95 South.
  • Drkman, we'll have to do it again sometime.
