Question about real estate — Brooklynian

Question about real estate

Hi, I am looking for a 2 bedroom for my daughter and myself and I wanted to get a feel for what a real 2 bedroom would cost.

Does anyone know? I am interested in Flatbush, Crown Heights, and PLG.

Thanks!

  • My estimate is $1,500 to $1,800 for a market rate apartment. Rent-stablized, rent-controlled, if you can find one, a lot cheaper.
  • Subject: 3bdrm 2bath for rent in CH

I recently renovated one of my apartments and I'm looking for new tenants.. The apt is located in crown heights brooklyn. 1232 Sterling Place (between albany and troy). Its 1100 sq ft, with brand new hardwood floors in the living room and carpet in each of the 3 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a bathroom en suite. The apt has direct access into the backyard and comes with private parking. Rent: 1900/mth. The apt is a 7minute walk from the 4 train (utica avenue) and the 3 train (kingston avenue). Its a 45minute commute from midtown and 15 minutes away from trendy fort greene, brooklyn. The apt is available asap.

I would appreciate if you could distribute this liberally amongst your friends. I can be reached at 646-436-1889.
  • I recently was over at Schenectady and St. Johns Place and noticed that the NYPD had placed a portable command center there. I wonder if this is response to the recent wave of murders in the area. Also note below:

An unidentified 44-year-old black woman was found stabbed to death early Friday on Lincoln Place and Albany Avenue in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn, according to a police report and a brief in the Post's NYPD Blotter.

The woman had been stabbed in the neck and was taken to Kings County Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival. The Post reported that the police were questioning the woman's landlord with whom she had argued in the past. Reportedly, she had an order of protection out against him.

I wonder if CrownQueen has been attending any of the recent 77th Precinct council meetings or Community Board 8 meetings. She might be better able to get $1,900 in rent for her apartment if she wasn't trying to rent in the middle of a high crime zone.

It's remarkable to me how people just aren't involved in their communities. Here's a woman expecting to good a very aggressive rent but does she have any idea what's going on in her n'hood?

A group of us have reached out to local developers in the Crown Heights area who are investing millions of dollars in new buildings along Bedford Avenue and Rogers Avenu. None of them were aware that the Dept of Homeless Services is about to make the Bedford Atlantic armory the only intake center for homeless men in NYC, shutting down the 30th Street intake center in Manhattan where almost two-thirds of the homeless are. If that happens, their million dollar investments will be worth a lot less.

LOL. While they're busy shaving pennies off their costs, pinching suppliers and contractors to save a few dollars, their entire investment is being undermined by the City and they have no clue it's even happening.

Get your heads out of the sand, or pay the price!
  • ^ while you may have a point about LLs in general, i think you're making some mighty big assumptions about CrownQueen, Cap'n.
