Brooklyn Baby Daddy ... A Blog You Can Read
Hi Everyone,
I'm posting here about a blog I've been putting my heart and soul into called Brooklyn Baby Daddy. I think, however, that this is a better place to post about it than in the Random forum. I plan to update about it here, but hopefully not too much. Those who want to check it will, I'm sure.
But what's it about? Well, I am a 36 year old first time parent. My wife is 32, and is in the same boat. We live in Park Slope, which we both love, though we rent. She's a public school teacher, and I'm an editor at a Web-site. And, like a lot of you, probably, we are dealing with the issues of parenting as they come up: whether we should move, "natural" child birth, being afraid of doing bad jobs as parents. You know, the usual.
Well, anyway, here's a link to the blog itself: http://www.brooklynbabydaddy.blogspot.com/
Check it out, you might like it or even relate to it. Lately I've been writing about what it means to be a Generation X parent, and what it means to raise a child when your parents divorced. I also try to keep it fun! Anyway, thanks for reading!

Cool, thanks for posting here, as we discussed. This is the best forum on Brooklynian for parent issues.
Also, do you really hyphenate and capitalize "Web-site" in your job as an editor at a website? Is this the 1890s? You are channeling T. Herman Zweibel...

Truth, we do. Call it odd, but we do. And we always capitalize Internet.
-
Do you work at the NYT web"-"site?
-
No, I am at a leading financial site.
-
Brooklyn Baby Daddy
I just read your blog
Well not all of it, some of it
We too are expecting (in January)
and I really enjoyed it!
Good job! -
Mozel Tov! A winter baby!

Any tricks for morning sickness?
-
Wow, I would have to ask the Brooklyn Baby Mama. I will post here when I find out.
-
From The Brooklyn Baby Mama, some morning sickness tips:
"I saw an expectant mom was asking about morning sickness on the Brooklynian. Here are some ideas, if you want to post them:
*Snacks right before bed and right after waking up -- something bland like crackers. Empty stomach = the devil.
*Hard sucking candies help.
*Seabands rule -- the things you put on your wrist to help travel sickness.
*I found I could eat cold fruit when all else failed.
Ah...I remember those old days. They seem so long ago." -
You are so right
Empty Stomach = The Devil
Cold fruit is my Best Friend
Thanks -
Oh, what the heck, I updated the blog with some new stuff in the past week. You might enjoy checking it out.

Mr. Roper: You know you're lucky, Jack. You can be pals with a woman. You
don't have the same problem that a regular man has.
Jack: Like what?
Mr. Roper: Like you'll never have a wife nagging you. Not that I have anything against marriage. But, wives can be very demanding. They're always asking you to, er, to, to…to DO things.
Jack: What kinda things?
Mr. Roper: You know! Things! Things!
Jack: Like?
Mr. Roper: Like, er…
Jack: Like putting up shelves?
Mr. Roper: That's it! Like putting up shelves. That's it. And they're never satisfied. I mean, it's not like a never put up a shelf…maybe, I may not put up as many shelves as, er, some husbands, but…[nods, 'macho'-ly] I put up shelves.
Jack: I'm sure you do.
Mr. roper: If Helen had her way… I'd, I'd be putting up a shelf every night.
Jack: That's a lot of shelves!

Some new stuff about how to soothe a crying baby, for real, and, um, how I sold my comic books?

My semi-regular update: We had a baby naming for the Brooklyn Baby Baby, and I am currently writing about it. Lots of stuff about Judaism, so if you're into that ...
