Natty Garden

sweet tea
edited November -1 in Prospect Heights
Just noticed this place this morning -- cute little garden nursery at washington and dean.

it wasn't open when i walked by, but the plants were beautiful, and it looked like they had some peat moss and such as well.

anyone know anything more about it? like when they might be open -- i need some marigolds all of a sudden.

  • It's been there just a few weeks -- I've noticed it open on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, usually with the added attraction of cut fresh coconut and other fruit being sold. I think it's called "Natty Garden," actually. Haven't stopped there myself as I'm death to plants, but it does look cute!
  • I bought some herbs there and they are great!

  • Is this a new place?? We so need this!
  • Yeah it's new, opened up maybe a month ago

  • They were open Thursday night. I stopped by around 7pm, I think. I got a 4-pack of cherry tomatoes (Sweet 100)* and a 4-pack of basil there, for $5. The plants are in great shape, and the guys were really nice.

Their herb selection is pretty good, and they even have strawberry plants. They also have African basil, which I've never seen before, and it smelled delicious.

    Quoting myself:
    * I only have room for 2 tomato plants, so if you can use the extras, PM me.
^the tomatoes have a good home. And! The 4-pack of basil actually had 8 basil plants in it (half of those are going to the same good home).

  • It is moving across the street, to a site that used to repair cars.

    Here's where I'm talking about....

Over the course of about a year, this site will have changed from a decrepit car repair place, to an island of green.

  • I bought some plants from him a few weeks ago and all are doing well. He has some nice tree pit worthy perennials!

  • The move is now complete. Nice!

  • I shop here often, like this place, and will continue to shop here but just want to give a heads up to people to be careful around the dog that is often in the store in the side room.

  • Ribbons you may have solved a mystery for us around the corner. We kept hearing a dog barking but could not figure out where it was coming from.

  • that dog is a sweetheart. a little excitable but basically a big kid
