Overrated restaurants in PS

Other than the great lobster roll, I'm in total agreement on Brooklyn Fish Camp. I need to remember to just walk out if they tell me they're out of the lobster roll.
Some places, like Lobo, attract people but are generally considered to be bad. One place where the word of mouth AND crowd completely loses me is Miriam. Never had a decent plate of food there, and once was served the absolute worst-tasting shrimp I've ever had. I long for the mediocre days of the Surreal Cafe.
Not to pee on anyone's grave, but the 2nd Street Cafe was another one of those places I never quite understood the appeal of. -
The last time I went to the fish camp, the lobster roll was something like $32, with a tiny side of cole slaw. FAirway's is $8, and I daresay, much better.

I've had the Fairway one. Not with you on that one. That one tastes like an $8 lobster roll.
But I will say that I had an $8 lobster roll in Rhode Island that blew any NYC one away any day of the week once. -

Keep an open mind. I like Lobo for what it is, good, inexpensive American styled Mexican food. Always friendly service, good cocktails, tasty salsa, excellent enchilladas. You can have a good dinner for two for $25.
Straight up, the most authentic Mexican food I've had in the 'Slope is Tacos Nueva Mexico on 5th Ave. Cheap too!
I also like Yamani on 4th Ave. -

Keep an open mind. I like Lobo for what it is, good, inexpensive American styled Mexican food. Always friendly service, good cocktails, tasty salsa, excellent enchilladas. You can have a good dinner for two for $25.
Straight up, the most authentic Mexican food I've had in the 'Slope is Tacos Nueva Mexico on 5th Ave. Cheap too!

Perfect day: lobster roll outside at Fairway (order 2), then a trip over to Steve's for some frozen key lime pie. If only Fairway sold beer....

fairway totally sells beer. you just have to buy it in the store. -

Doesn't a restaurant have to have been "rated" to now be considered "overrated?" If that premise is true then mentioning Dizzys, Sotto Voce, Tutta Pasta, Santa Fe Grill, etc is unnecessary. All represent the highest achievement of mediocrity and always have.
But I would love to have public televised debates on the exceptional merits of Al Di La and Bonnies! -

Livetotravel just took the words right out of my.. fingers. While this thread is very entertaining, the most eye-opening part of it is seeing which restaurants are being mentioned as if they were respected (the ones listed above in particular). And I think Livetotravel just answered his/her closing question in his/her tagline.
