I have been on both sides and am more than aware of the difference. I also know teachers who would tell you in great detail how vast the difference is regarding parental involvement. My point is that there is no sex shop near St. Saviour's and I would bet there never would be, even if the school was located in a more central location. If you seriously believe parents who spend the money to send their kids to private schools do not have a greater impact on community boards and local politicians than you are sadly mistaken. As I stated before raising a child who is comfortable with their sexuality does not requie that they have access to sex shops. I am not agaist such stores, but I do believe there should be zoning restrictions.
Eating cows offends me and I will throw a hissy fit if a McDonald's or other burger joint opens up across the street from my kid's school.
I find it interesting that others think there should be no zoning and that it is perfectly okay to have a sex shop so close to a school.
You can buy cigarettes in CVS/Rite Aid/Duane Reade, so I will fight any CVS/Rite Aid/Duane Reade that tries to open up in a 10 block radius of my kid's school. -

You might save a teen girl by giving her a dildo. After all, you wouldn't want a teen landing in the emergency room because the frozen hot dog broke off. -

Also I did not just notice the sex shop, I simply just now decided to inquire how others on this site felt about it. No one is demonizing sex, I made a simple comment about it's location. Perhaps if you had a better sex partner you would not think a sex shop is a neccessity
And then there are those of us who know that being comfortable enough to sometimes incorporate toys into sex is what makes you a better sex partner.
I wish this could be some sort of PSA. I'm a dynamo in the sack, so is my husband... doesn't mean we're having a ho-hum streak if we visit a sex shop. In fact, why would it signal anything other than a nice high peak?

I work in Sunset Park at an elementary school. I see stray dogs and cats all the time near my school and even on the school grounds. Just this morning I was feeding a mother cat who is skinny as a rail and came up to me as I was walking into my school. My point is this – starving animals who live on the streets are much more offensive than any sex shop. If everyone who complained about a sex shop took in a stray cat, Brooklyn would be a better place.

If we still had the rating system I'd give you 2 stars!
There's a lot of things worse than a sex shop that we need to focus on: Poverty, Violence, Animal cruelty, War, Racism.......

Last year, I took in a near dead stray I found last year across the street from my school. What a great cat! In just days he was back to life. Wish I could take them all, but I have two already. My school has close to 1400 children, wouldn't a cat make a nice pet? A few months back I saw one of my students with a kitten that was just a few weeks old. I asked her where she got the kitten and I was told that her aunt threw the cat away, in a garbage can, and my student took the kitten out of the garbage. Yeay, throwing away a live animal is much more offensive than any sex shop. Okay, my rant is over!

Well, if we are going to be up in arms over this, why not be up in arms over the fact that there is a deli right across from the school that sells liquor and cigarettes? Actually, I know they got their cigarette license revoked a few times (for selling to minors!)-I am not even sure if they ever got it back.
The above stories about the cats are just heart breaking, I wish i could take them all in! -

Less haters, more kittens.

I know lolcats are so over, but I can't help it.

Maybe the store should give away a free kitten with every g-string or c-ring. -
I'm allergic to puss..., I mean kittens. It sucks. Lets ban cats and leave the sex store alone.
