Freakin' rain. Right when we were about to head up there. Hopefully the vendors don't pack up and leave.

if you hate the idea of street fairs and gay pride parades, i can't really understand why you live in the city.

That's wins most moronic comment of the day. One lives in the city because ________, but that doesn't mean one must embrace every goddamm thing about it!
Was a love for crowded street fairs put on my birth certificate? I think not. -

O.K., usually I just ignore the IDIOT comments on this forum. I very much enjoy posting here and don't want a moderator to tell ME to vanish because I respond with too much vigor..
It usually ends at 6pm.
Geez, Sat. Gay Pride and Sunday 7th Heaven. Good time to go away.
Eggcream's comment is so over the top, offensive not only to Gay people but to EVERYONE who lives in this neighborhood. Both the 5th ave and 7th ave fairs were here way before you moved in to this neighborhood. Yes, they have evolved and surely are less home-based (crafty, funky.. whatever) than they were years ago. Include the Atlantic Antic there too. But, we live in a neighborhood and these sundays are a celebration of neighborhood. If you want to leave town because there are people out on the street do so but don't post your get out of town needs couched in a comment that is really offensive! -

i never said one had to embrace anything or everything.
but suggesting that these two great brooklyn events require leaving town for someone who lives here just confuses me a bit...
that's all. -

oh and forgot to say that i just walked the entire length of the fair and then back again and thoroughly enjoyed it.
it's interesting to note the different vibes we have here in park slope as you go from flatbush down to 15th. after the rain cleared, it was a great day to be out. i've been gone all week for work (returned yesterday and was too tired to hit the pride events) and it's always great to come back home. park slope looks especially lush and beautiful this weekend. -

Right, such a huge change in demographics between President St. and 15st., at times I almost felt as if I was entering an entirely different city.

Tube socks, generic fried food, knock off posters, bargain bin crapola, bank promos and bed sheets --- street fairs in NYC are a cabal of nonsense and even my 8-year-old said is was full of junk...although I do like walkin' in the street...

Offensive, get a grip? Didn't know I must like everything about this neighborhood. Now how would you know the fairs were here before I "moved in"? Never let facts get in the way do you. I've been here BEFORE the fairs ever began not that it is any of your business. -
