I still cannot believe that Bob Dylan is coming to Brooklyn August 12.
That is going to be a great night in the park. -

I know he won't, but wouldn't it be awesome if he did a South Park/Chef song???

Right? I love that shit. I'm also a big fan of the Kathy Lee Gifford sexual fantasy song.
He also has an outstanding version of "Walk on By" that's on "Hot Buttered Soul" - a great album. -

The Philip Glass/Kronos Quartet "Dracula" was fantastic, but way, way too short before the rain kicked in, including lightning nearby. Then it STORMED. Awesome, but also kind of a letdown, considering it was a once-in-a-lifetime event.

Subject: Miriam Makeba
I received an e-mail from Celebrate Brooklyn saying that Mriam Makeba
will not be able to do the concert because of a fall but she is sending someone in her place. -

I was at his show last night, and this group of about four older women were working themselves into a frenzy! Apparently they were recalling some nights of intense passion, because as they were laughing and dancing, one of them yelled out "some heavy sex!" LOL Was quite a scene.

Oh, and Isaac was cool. Older/slower than I thought, but still cool. -

Yeah, Isaac has genetic cool that's for sure - it was just a nice night though, nothing special except the amazingly diverse crowd - that's why I love Brooklyn!

Loved the show and the diversity, although it was a much Park Slopier crowd of people than I'm accustomed to being around. You know, you live in the hood all your life and those white people (even when you are yourself sun-challenged) sort of take your breath away at times. Hopefully, we all know by now that it isn't the whiteness that makes them stand out so much as their distinctly hubristic behavior. But hey, that's what these shows are for-- learning to love those you would never choose to call on the phone for any reason whatsoever. And love them well and with all your heart. Isaac got mad skills. Glad he brought 'em to grace us in Brooklyn.

one woman's diversity is another's vanilla. Funny how that works. the crowd didn't make me scream "diversity" either. Now, back in the day when you could go to the concerts (about 15 years ago) and actually sit in a chair and relax - there was a little more flavor.

Does anyone know if you can bring dogs to watch the free concerts? I've never been to the bandshell before, just moved to the neighborhood. Is there grass/room for picnicing and such? Would love to bring my pug along so he can be outside in the park too!

Dylan is kind of a coup. Although I have to say, the last time I saw it was a snooze. But the two times before that he was just great. I guess it works like this.
Is Bob is playing the guitar=awesome.
Is Bob playing keyboard=boring.

Bob Dylan is playing in Prospect Park on Aug 12th. I wonder why the Prospect Park website hasn't been promoting it? Is it because the tickets are sold out? I'm still planning on being there, sitting on the outside lawn with my dog. I won't be able to see him but at least i can hear him.
