  • No, I'm not sorry :)
  • [quote="Brooklyn Baby Daddy"]I have to defend Bonnie's. That place has a delicious burger. I don't know what you guys consider good in a burger if it's not Bonnie's. Seriously. Tell me.

I like Bonnie's burger, but I really love the burgers at Sidecar (5th Ave btw 15/16th). Try them. You'll like them

That's not exactly true, one owner may have sold out for a lot of money but the other one didn't. He owned a smaller share of Snooky's and was forced out somehow. I guess working his way up from being a bus boy to part owner in 15 years didn't count for much. Last I heard he was driving a bread truck, pretty sad if you ask me.

  • I like Bue Ribbon! It's a great all-purpose place: a casual burger, or a fancy seafood meal and inbetween and all in the same place. I've gone in there wearing jeans and a t shirt as well as fancy dress, and have not felt out of place either way. My husband and I consider it one of our default "celebration" restaurants where we don't need a reservation or to wait in line for 30 minutes before the doors open in order to get a good meal and good service. :)

  • meganlibrarian.. I am with you on your comments about Blue Ribbon. I am really happy they are in the hood. I probably don't eat there more than 6 times a year but I do those times... for major celebrations... a birthday for daughter-in law ( 20 people with a reservation) or welcome home dinner for a friend who had been out of the country for afew years (12 people) or gee I could eat a great hamburger right now or where can we blow a lot of money for fresh seafood at 1am on a tues night?...

I like Blue Ribbon too, but not enough to rave about it and drag people there. It seems like a fine restaurant, but I don't often crave its food. Once I was there around 7 pm on a weekday near a table of VERY LOUD drunk men, but it was not a big deal.

  • Raw... I bet those loud drunk people were not Brooklyn People! They probably came from manhattan (pre drunk) and since they were out of their own hood got drunker and stupider at The Blue Ribbon in Brooklyn.

i must say - one of my utmost favorite desserts in the world is from Blue Ribbon... i and my bf have gone there every 3 or 4 months for the past 2 and a half years and have yet to be disappointed. which is saying something.

it is their banana walnut bread pudding... but with a twist.

they usually serve it with vanilla ice cream which, to me, lends a bit too much sweetness (and this is coming from someone who used to drink maple syrup... another story...) HOWEVER if you ask them to serve it with lemon sorbet instead of the icecream you have total sensory overload. the bittersweet of the lemon sorbet balances the immaculate deliciousness of the bananas and bread nuggets to perfection!

    try it!

i'd wager close to anything you won't be surprised...

truly my all time favorite dessert ever!

Wings are also great there, as is their chili. Friendly vibe, quick. What else do you really want in a burger?
I would like flavor and taste in my burger and I would like it served in a place that doesn't look like the floor hasn't been mopped in a million years. JMO of course.
