Straight Razor Shave in Brooklyn? — Brooklynian

Straight Razor Shave in Brooklyn?

I collect straight razors, but I've never learned to use them. Does anyone know where I can find a barbershop that would do a straight razor shave either with their disposable straight razors or with my own? This would be a Father's day present from my wife to me, so I'd need an answer soon.

  • I go to Vincent's on Cortelyou Rd next to the Q station

  • Thank you, Jack! You've just made my Father's Day!

  • I think Jessies House of Styles on Greene off of Fulton St also does straight razor shaves. You can check for next time and happy fathers day.

  • I'll try them next time I get a shave. I have to say after getting one this weekend, it's the closest, most comfortable and scariest shave a man can get!

  • I'd like to hear how it goes for you. I've had a couple straight razor shaves in my life time and none have ever come close to the job I can do with my mach 3. I shave my face and head completely, so I know what I'm doing. In fact, I did so this morning and you'd be hard pressed to feel even a single stubble in any direction, but every time I've had it done professionally, I've found patches of scratchyness. Now I chauk this up to me knowing my own face and head a lot better than the barber, but it it turns out I just had some losey barbers, I'd love to try one who knew what they were doing.
All that aside, there really is nothing like that hot wet towel they drape over your face. I don't have time to do that at home, but man, THAT feels nice.

I haven't had one out here, but I got one from a Russian from Queens in AZ, it was quite an experience!

Actually, I partially take that back. I got one upstate once. It was OK. The other guy was way better.
