it's donation, actually. i think they ask for $3, though you can give more or less. close enough to free, but just so no one is taken aback by the request for money. -

and there are a couple of shows that are admission only, like Fiest and Gilberto Gil - bigger ticket, bigger fundraiser

donation is fine by me. i'll gladly throw a few bucks for a nice outdoor summer show in the park.

Philip Glass? Really?
Where are you finding these listings? On this site:

I see lots of TBA acts where you have actual performers listed. -

brooklynvegan and the NYTimes have both published more than what BRIC is putting online

Looks like Gilberto Gil is a no-go for the park...too bad.

philip glass also performed about two (or was it one?) summers ago. he played while they showed a dracula movie. but then it got all stormy and everyone had to run back home in the rain. it was a blast.

The Glass gig is the sound track from POWAQQATSI - one of the best documentary's ever made - without words!
BTW, the full schedule is now up on BRIC's website...

I really can't stand Philip Glass. The funny thing is, I've accidentally insulted the guy in four states now. For some reason, he always seems to be standing right behind me when I'm telling someone how much I don't like his music. And then he GLARES at me!
He must think I'm stalking him or something.

I'm in total agreement with you, with the singular exceptions of the sound tracks to three of the greatest films ever made, all by Godfrey Reggio: Koyaanisqatsi - life out of balance, Powaqqatsi - life in transformation, and Naqoyqatsi - life as war.
He must think I'm stalking him or something.

Under normal circumstances I would want a single-edged razor given out in order to slit my wrists if I was made to suffer the drone of Glass's monotonotonous music. But this film and performance is both an exception and exceptional. -
