Best Product(s)?

Being the girly board, I thought I'd ask:

Best drug store product:

- mascara (I vote for L'Oreal Voluminou)
- Lip product (L'Oreal HIP gloss - tastes like roasted marshmellows!)
- Eye lash curler (Wet'n'Wild - and it's only $2 and small!)
- blush (torn here between Maybelline whipped stuff (forgot the name) and Revlon liquid/gel in Cheeky Cherry).

My name is Flexi and I have a BIG TIME cosmetics addiction (even though I don't really wear a lot of makeup)

  • I'd also be curious about your:

    - best overall face cleaning product
    - best spot pimple treatment
    - best wrinkle cream (SO not fair to have pimples and wrinkles at 41!)

  • Mascara = Maybelline Great Lash in Blackest black (my friends all hate it and they say that it does nothing for them , but it works really well for mines.)

Eyeliner = I use Maybelline Expert wear eyeshadow #240 Night Sky (Black) to line my eyes. I have one of those angle brushes that are used to apply eyeshadow as a liner(just moisten the tip of the brush w/water and then brush some shadow on it).Got it from Avon.

Cover up = Maybelline Shine free pressed powder. My skin gets oily sometimes and that helps alot.

Lip product = Chapstick , yummy cherry flavor.....yeah sometimes I do eat it off my lips but don't act like ya'll don't do that shit too!! .I don't wear lipstick but my sister does and she wears that Revlon Colorstay liquid stuff that comes in a bottle with a brush. She seems to love it.

    Blush = ??? Don't wear any.

Facial soap = Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash - I don't have acne , and I'd like to keep it that way.....

Wrinkle cream = Don't need that YET.....but when I do I'll probably go for Oil of Olay cuz thats what my momma uses and she looks really good for her age ( 55).

Facial lotion : Oil of Olay Complete all day moisture cream for sensitive skin with SPF 15. I love it , it loves me. :)

    Eyelash curler = Revlon

Spot pimple treatment = I don't freakin use that stuff. I should , but I don't. Whenever I get a pimple I just let it sit there until I can pop it (eww) and then I do and then it goes bye bye.

  • I'm not a girl, so I don't use a lot of that stuff. But as far as cleansers and such go I am a _huge_ fan of Missha stuff. It is really nice and inexpensive. I freaked out last time I bought stuff there (maybe December 07?) because they had just closed every store in NYC except 7th Ave and I got worried. So I bought a boatload of stuff just in case. As far as naming names, I use the expedition mens line for the face. And just about every flavor of the body washes and body butter etc. that isn't 1) wine based or 2) fruity. Because I don't want to smell like wine. And although I have nothing in particular against smelling fruity, the sweetness makes me feel like I'm advertising for insect bites. Although I suspect that is just in my head. But I try to listen to the voices in my head. At least about body washes. Previous to switching to Missha I used Neutrogena stuff, which I was generally happy with for the price, especially since it was from Costco. And when my mom was alive she always used Oil of Olay, so it is cool to see people still using it. :)

  • I love Missha! I'm sad they closed the SoHo store. I bought a lot of great cheap cosmetics there

For face/wrinkle cream I'm a major fan of Eucerin Q - both the day lotion and the thicker stuff for night. The night stuff smells faintly of cake frosting and that makes me happy :-) Plus, if you believe Caseopele, I don't look close to 41.

I use Neutrogena to wash - either anti-wrinkle/anti-blemish or the stress control variety. But I still get at least one honkin' pimple at any given time.

Blech - that Maybelline Great Lash. I don't get the appeal. Oh, and I have probably 3 brand new ones still in packaging. They were on sale cheap cheap and I don't know what I was thinking. I used to travel with them so I didn't care if they got lost or didn't make it thru screening.

  • I've really happy with L'oreal's Panoramic Curl mascara in blackest black.
Sephora brand black eyeliner is very dark and matte which I like.
I second Em's use of shadow as eye liner. I have a Bobby Brown dark brown eyeshadow I do that with.

There's an excellent Urban Decay shadow called Underground that I'm currently facinated with.
Also this product is next on my list when I get some spare cash:
    http://sephora.com/browse/brand_hierarchy.jhtml?brandId=NVEY ECO
NVEY ECO (pronounced en-vay ee-coh), it's a philosophy of harmony through the interaction of nature and creativity to deliver organic cosmetics that nourish, protect, condition, and energize your skin. Certified organic by the Australian Government as well as the Organic Food Chain, NVEY ECO is paraben free, SLS free, GM free, cruelty free, talc free, and contains no propylene glycol or petroleum based ingredients. NVEY ECO's core is green, it's sexy, it's color, and it's certified organic.
The products have Vitamin E, an excellent antioxidant, safflower, jojoba, natural antioxidants and organic castor oils. It's pretty awesome.

My mom loves "Hope in a Jar" by Philosophy. A great face cream.

Jeeze, once I'm back home I'll post all the other crap I have piled on my vanity. I'm a serious makeup and cream hog.

  • I use eye shadow as liner a lot. I have all kinds of brushes. I use a lot of the Bare Escentuals powders for liners with a tiny brush.

Oh, and if we're talking high-er end stuff, my Nars cream blush in Penny Lane is one of my current faves

Urband Decay Primer Potion will keep any of your eye shadow on for ages

  • I had an absolutely perfect blush by Orgins that I think is called Apricot.
Anyways, it was perfect as a warm blush when I got pastey in the winter and then doubled as a bronzer in the summer. They stopped carrying the color I think :(

Bare Essentials has an Excellent brow applicator and powder. It's better than the Benefit one.

Damn you know what, we just need to have a makeup party. Everyone brings there favorite stuff and we have some cosmos.

  • I use Pond's*** foaming face wash (the witch hazel one)- really good for the zits, I've found. Then my friend gave me her months supply of Proactive and the shit does work. I haven't been getting zits in general lately though-I think as time goes on, my chemistry has changed (yea!).

    Foundation- MAC
Lips: Colorstay (definately does, even after a make-out session)
Eyliner: some cheap shit- liquid- I forget right now.
    Blush: Neutragena

***I've been very observant lately about products that don't test on animals and the PONDS does (or at least they don't state that they don't, which means they do!) so when my supply runs out I'm done.

Oh, I think a make-up party would be fun! Cosmos and lipstick=total blast!

St Ives has an Olive Scrub that smells soo nice and green. It's good for oily or combination skin. It's not a harsh scrub at all, very mild.

  • How about shampoo?

I like the Garnier Fructis Fortifying Shampoo.

And one more thing that I use......Huggies Calming Touch Lotion with lavender and chamomile. I get any brand as long as it is lavender scented. Its smells so good on babies and so I started buying that stuff and using it all over except for my face.Ahhhh , I can smell it now.Leaves the skin baby soft , lol.

Oooh and fav perfume right now is COCO Mademoiselle by Chanel
It lasts long on me and smells awesome.

  • For my hair I go with neutrogena pure clean shampoo. It gently washes off all the impurities that gather on your hair and just leaves it clean with no residue or anything. Totally pure.

Face creme: a new one for me and work wonders on under eye bags and tones pores = Remede "Complete Treatment, Anti-Aging/Stress Control.
It has green tea, shea butter and some other crap that seems to work well with my skin.

For Acne I highly recommend Kiehl's Rare-Earth Face Masque. Put it on 'hot-spot' areas or all over nose and chin. Really works on black/white heads. It didn't make me flake or peel at all.

Also for acne and inflammation or reactive skin there is my FAVORITE serum of all times!!! Cosmedix Clarity, clarifying serum. If you use this somewhat regularly, you will see an amazing change in your skin, it's really a life savor.

So gals, what do you have for me :D

  • Collective Wellbeing Cleansing Clay (w/cinnamon).

Burts Bees Naturally Ageless Day Lotion (w/pomegranate).

Oh, and all of the Pangea products are great.

    Don't make fun.

  • If you want to see some hard core cosmetics lovers, check out

    www.makeupalley.com

I read their reviews a lot

Right now I'm feeling my Boots No. 7 lip plumper gloss. I don't think it's plumping, but it's tingly and goes well with a lip crayon I have.

When I'm feeling clean and sleepy (especially in winter), I like putting on J&J lavendar body lotion before bed.
