In America anyone can sue anyone for any reason. Except the government. You can't always sue them. Anyway. It doesn't mean that they would win, but who wants to fight a big lawsuit? Basically, I think they've made the short list of places that people should _never_ go to, even though we can't tell them why.

I think Aji is a wonderful example of how new business can be part of the community and use the web to reach out and build a positive relationship with the neighborhood. Piero has taken the right approach. Elementi has not.
But then again, when your a bitch your a bitch.. hard to change that :-'

The tapas place on Bergen also gets props for being cool on the board and making friends and taking reviews with stride.

I don't get why you have to make "friends" with people on this board in order to be welcomed to PS. I originally began posting and reading this board to see people's opinions and recommendations, and most people seem to be here just attack people (I posted awhile ago asking for recommendations of where to buy a watch, and somebody began an argument about Tourneau - a simple question became an argument).
And I'm not a prude, but it seems that there are some people here who can't post anything without cursing - i just don't get that - when you speak, do you also use the "f" word constantly.
I'm sure I'm going to get criticized for this, but again, I don't see why someone has to make friends here. I think what the owner of Aji did was nice, but I don't see why everyone has to do that.
Now if it's true that the board was threatened with a lawsuit, that's one thing...but I still don't understand why you would pull posts...you can't control what people say.

No one has to make friends. On the other hand, hunting down the employers of people who post poor reviews of your restaurant and trying to get them fired certainly does make enemies.

No one should "have to" make friends.
But the same time you should expect when you're in a business that people will have there opinions and have every right to express them truthfully.

Elementi couldn't handle the fact that someone spoke out about an incident with the owner where said owner acted like a total Fucker ( :P ) and tried to get someone fired and worse. It blew up in there face and people don't go there not because the place is necessarily ass, but because the owners are. I don't patronize any place where the owner is an ass.

Pardon my french. I don't really care if they took Snooky's place or not. I just don't like the owners.

While it's not required to "make friends" with anyone, you would think that a local business owner would want to be as nice and becoming as possible considering the terribly competitive market in new york and especially in park slope. Restaurants close weeks after opening sometimes, so it would seem like sucking up to the locals would be a pretty decent idea if you want regulars. It can also help make up for crappy service or food- look at Barrio. they've gotten quite a few unfavorable reviews on here in relation to the food and slow service, but everyone seems to have a positive experience with the people working there and, as a result, i haven't seen any reviews that will keep me from trying them out eventually.

Don't misunderstand me - you should be nice to your customers - and you shouldn't threaten people who give you a bad review - I guess I didn't know that. On the being nice to your customers and accepting bad reviews (and making your place better) I totally agree with you...it's making friends with people on this board that I don't (although it was very nice that the guy from Aji asked folks what they wanted)

There seems to be some major misunderstanding about Stone Park. Stone Park has absolutely never threatened to "sue" anyone over anything posted on this board, such as a bad review. I do not want to get into these issues again, but there were some posts deleted for reasons that are very mundane, and quickly becoming lost to history. The whole "issue" is completely overblown and NOT worthy of a split topic. Let's move on. This post is locked.
