Pope Martin's Polish Ice-Fishing Party (this Saturday)
Subject: Pope Martin's Polish Ice-Fishing Party (this Saturday)
Hey, DH'ers. We're having a big ol' bash this weekend. Come on down and meet yer neighbors. And gut a fish. Details below.***
Break out the big fuzzy hats, strap on your cross and wear clothes that would look swell wearing fish guts; it's time for Pope Martin's Polish Ice-Fishing Party.UHH, WHAT? It's our dear Polish friend Martin's 30th birthday, and we wish to celebrate in true Polish fashion: We're talking ice-fishing tents, liver-numbing levels of vodka, smoked kielbasa, culturally insensitive jokes, real ice fishing, a toboggan and a super-special fish-gutting station featuring super-special prizes. And guts. So many guts.
SO WHAT SHOULD I BRING? Vodka, Zywiec beer and wooly hats with earflaps the size of small poodles. Fishing poles are encouraged, as well as a pair of disposable rubber gloves.
THIS IS REALLY HAPPENING? Yup. Saturday, November 12, 9 pm. We've already built the indoor shed.
BUT I DON'T KNOW MARTIN. So. Have you ever needed a reason to drink? He's a lovely guy, and he'd really appreciate your company.
CAN I INVITE MY FRIENDS? Of course. But only if they look suitably Polish.
REALLY, FISH GUTS? Oh, yes.
WHAT'S THE ADDRESS? 562 Park Place, b/w Classon and Franklin Aves.

Wow. That is an enviable party plan! I'm almost speechless. We even have an ice-fishing rod! We're having our going-away party the same night, though
-
Feel free to roll across the street later on for some late-night ice fishing. We'll save you a plump one to gut.
-
Is this some sort of code or not? Either way, I am interested.

Code? What code? We're drinking vodka and catching fish. Once you enter our fishing shack, you'll never think about an air shaft quite the same way again.

OK, then. I'll be there with my ice borer, jig rig and pole. -

If the firespinning doesn't pan out, we're there

Sounds rad. I'll be there with vodka and those festive yellow dish washing gloves is as good as it gets although I may have an appropriate New England hat somewhere.

You're the firespinner? I've watched that from my roof! -
Ha! Were you the people we heard applauding? That was my birthday party! (Or, well, the aftermath of it, during which it seemed like a great idea to climb up on the roof drunk and watch someone sling flaming lighter fluid around
) It wasn't me, though, it was my friend William...we're hoping to coax a repeat performance out of him this weekend. I guess we'll see! -
Where do you live Bluedove?! If i'm not too full of fish and vodka, I'll be out watching the night sky! There just aren't as many opportunities to enjoy firespinning as there used to be...
-
Well, I certainly can't promise anything, but I live near the Park Place shuttle stop
-
Yes, bluedove. That was me with some neighbors. Let's see some more of it.

Whoops. Sorry, that was jose. -
This just in: We have a fish scaler! And the ice-fishing DVD just arrived in the mail. It's Nordic awesome. Plus, our ice-fishing tent, aka the vodka room, is set up. Only 31 hours to go before it's fish-guttin' time. Yee-ha! Pope Martin praying for all your souls.

Subject: great party
Great party! I'm sure many sweet Gdaskers found lovely prospective husbands and wives here. I'm Ken, the black Pole, and had to secret my housemate Keith away at a point, for everyone's safety. You must remember him. In my haste I left my red, plaid hunting coat. I'm a neighbor, and at your convienence will come over to retrieve it. Skol! 718 -857-8497 -
