The truth about Stone Park

i remember the original post. since the decision was to remove it from the board, i won't rehash it.
but in case people are imagining something shrill and provocative or downright mean, i'd like to state that that is not my recollection of its tone.
nor, as carnivore said earlier, was food poisoning the primary complaint.
for the record: i've never been to stone park (not because of this, just haven't), nor have i met the original poster. i have no dog in this race. -

I'm very much in agreement with sweet tea. the only difference is that I have had brunch at stone park AND enjoyed it. the post from the original poster unnerved me and made me cautious. I haven't been back.

I've eaten at Stone Park about 150 times, literally. I've tried many of their dishes, including quite a few that are no longer on the menu. And I've never gotten sick from their food once. No, they're not paying me to say that, and yes, I know some people don't like the place. This is not censorship, though. Go to Chowhound.com & read loads of negative Stone Park reviews if this is what you want to hear.

no worries. I have no doubt about the quality of food. the part that really made me ill about the original post had to do with the cockroach. and how the waitstaff handled it. super gross. I'd never go back to a restaurant that crushed a bug in my face ... with a utensil ... and didn't even apologize. -
The first rule about Stone Park, is there is NO Stone Park!!

Don't forget the part about returning the utensil to its place setting at the table afterwards!

Maybe you should just delete this thread too.

Since we're reconstructing the entire thead bit by bit:
Don't forget about the part where a huge tarantula attached itself to someone's face and gave birth to gaggles of baby spiders.
The waiter completely ignored it, and the guy's wife found it impossible to enjoy her risotto thereafter. -

that's so messed up! -
I have first dibs on a 6-month option for the screenplay - maybe get David Lynch to direct or Wes Craven - maybe title it Brunch at Blattaria

Everything up until this post was originally posted by a longstanding poster and moderator with no vested interest, and I completely accept as fact. If the later hyperbole is intended to dismiss the facts of the original post, I encourage everyone to ignore this tactic.

Decide for yourself whether the initial facts warrant avoiding this establishment, but don't get fooled into thinking the whole thing is a joke.
EDIT: Just to clarify, I'm not implying this was dailyheights' tactic, but the tactic of the troll who registered a name to make that one outrageous post. -
Ok, here I am, the instigator of this whole mess. Hopefully we can put this to bed forever.
I won't go into the details of what happened; they have been fairly accurately described by DH and the other posters on this thread. I've been on this board for a long time and, I'd like to think, have accumulated some cred with those who frequent the site.
Suffice to say, I have had good meals at Stone Park. I had a bad experience. The service-related issue is the main reason why I will not go back to Stone Park. -

Well, the last time I went to Stone Park I believe that the food from there made me sick.
There, I said it. Sue me. -
Carnivore wrote: This is only partially true. Salmonella, Campylobacter, Shigella, E. coli O157:H7 and Bacillus cereus (among others) may cause delayed symptoms. However classic "food poisoning" is from Staph aureus preformed toxin, which typically causes symptoms (predominantly vomiting) within 2-4 hours.
(points and nods) I'd read an article once about the classic "food poisoning" and how you could tell if you had it; it quoted the 2-4 hour time table, and also said that it took about 12-18 hours to clear your system -- because that was how long it took the offending food to work its way through your digestive tract. The article also said that you could follow the progress of your case because -- and sorry for the metaphor here -- at some point you would notice a symptom switchover from vomiting to diarrhea, because your body is trying to push the offending food out through the nearest exit, so to speak.
And about three months after this, I actually GOT food poisoning from a dodgy fast food restaurant while on vacation in Ireland, and that is precisely how it happened. I was sprinting to the bathroom every 20 minutes over the course of 10 hours and then spent the next day feeling very much like I'd been run over by a wheelbarrow. -
I've only been to Stone Park once...no problem with service. I thought the food was good, but not worthy of the price...I thought Cocotte's food was better and was less money.
I just think Stone Park is a bit too pricey - Tempo is a little pricey too but the quality of their food matches the price. -

Ah, memories. When I got food poisoning in Jamaica, they gave me the medication that you take when you are seasick. It helped. Was it the goat curry? I think so....

Luckily there is a widely available anti-emetic there. I'm sure they had you eating Doritos in no time! -
I have to say that, we can discuss how we feel about restaurants back and forth, find enjoyment in that, etc., but I in no way expect my opinion, or anyone else's, to dictate what restaurants people should visit.
Stone Park could have hacked this site, and it wouldn't affect how I feel about their brunch.
