Webhost and Trojan issues — Brooklynian

Webhost and Trojan issues

Hi I'm Caseopele's mom - yes she is a saint. She told me to post my problem here since there are many great tech geeks on this site. So here goes.

Have the website roccoandjezebel.com which some of you know already. My host is Yahoo. During the past year the website has been hijacked four times and now it has a trojan which originates from Russia with an IP address of Mexico last time we checked. The website is temporarily down because I do not want to infect others, but am faced with having to recreate it completely and to host it with another company that has way better security so these issues do happen again. The website was designed through Dreamweaver and PHP. Since money is tight does anyone know of a good hosting company, someone to help me recreate the sight with PHP (originally there were security holes in PHP which was thought to have been taken care of - now I'm not sure). My knowledge is limited - does anyone have any advice - it would be greatly appreciated?

Thanks Andrea

  • Dreamhost?
  • I would check the code again. If there's a code problem, switching to dreamhost is not likely to help.
  • dailyheights, I know you're crazy busy but what do you mean by check the code? The web guy my mom is using doesn't know what the problem is and I'd like to help. But I don't even know where to start since I'm completely unfamiliar with PHP. If I had a starting point I might be able to figure it out. (I only know a bit of Dreamweaver but if I can see an example I can usually figure tech stuff out). I really appreciate it, thanks!

Raw, have you used Dreamhost before or heard anything good about them? Once this is fixed I really want to get my mom off of Yahoo, they've been pretty useless. Thanks!
