You and your wife are kind souls. And so is NYBT and his partner.
  • Partner?!

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
  • Here's a photo update on the progress of the kittens. They're getting unbearably cute.

  • I have two little dogs and a cat. I got the kitty when she was only 4 weeks old from some guys who had her in a box on the street, giving them away. She was the last one, and the runt. I already knew my minpin was very interested in cats to play with, {not to eat} so I got the kitty to keep him company during the day. Since Kitty grew up with the dog {second dog only came into my household 6 months ago}, they are very close, sleep and play together all the time. If they grow up together, that's the result, as long as your dog is not trying to kill cats. It's unbelievably adorable to see them "make out" with each other. The second dog is a chihuahua, smaller than the cat, and while she chases Kitty, there is no hostility. Mornings are a "Bop & Chase" circus.

Dogs and cats in the same household? Highly recommended.

I realized, as I was typing my post, that I couldn't remember if you had said wife or girlfriend. So I said *partner*. Now I realize you said wife. Anyhoo, those kittens are unbearably cute. Tuxedo cats rule!
  • You're right! I can't handle it! The cute is too much!

Aw, Tiger looks just like a kitten I had when I was nine. Unfortunately she was also insane, and my mom eventually couldn't take it anymore and made me give her away :(
  • I'm happy to announce that it looks as if all of the cats have found a home. They're going to stay with us a few more weeks as they develop, but they have all been spoken for!

For those of you that want to know, Smokey has started to eat on her own, although she still relies heavily on mom's milk. Smokey and one of the other kittens (didn't see which) also used the litter box for the first time, just this morning (when kittens are born, they can only go with stimulation from their mother, at about 4 weeks they can go on their own, but they don't exactly have iron-fisted control of their bodily functions, so this is quite the milestone.) They are becoming very mobile, and they seem to enjoy clinging to my socks as I walk...
  • got any more pictures, nybt? i could use some kitten cuteness!
  • not right now, but i could always take a few more! the fact that they're becoming so mobile is a little problematic, though! hard to make'em stand still!
  • hooray!

i would love to make a home for one or all of them, but boyfriend is not into it. and this guy might eat them:

  • Thank you, nybt! I'm so sorry to hear about Abbey. I'm sure she felt lucky to be with you.

Those little ones are just too adorable!
  • Oh, MAN, I love the little kitty standing in the dish!

I'm terribly, terribly sorry to hear about Abbey as well. Losing a pet is heartbreaking, especially for loving, conscientious owners -- which you and your wife so clearly are. I'm glad she got to live with you.
  • Oh man, I saw two more gorgeous baby kittens this morning. They definitely have the same daddy as nybt's kittens. They were in too tight of a spot for me to get near them (also they were with their mom and some food that some kind soul left out), but I will take them in if I can get them. It's just too cold out for the little ones.

I remember reading here about how a TNR program was happening on this part of Prospect Place. Does anyone know if it happened yet? Maybe I can help?

Check out the entry I think entitled Kittens need Home ASAP. Someone in the neioghborhood has just rescued three kittens
  • do the kittens really have blue eyes -- or is that the camera or my computer or something?

They have blue eyes when they're very young. At 7-8 weeks, some of their eyes are starting to change already. Smokey is the most noticeable- her eyes are turning greenish-yellow.
