  • isn't there internet access in the park? Grab a coffee on the way...?
  • I don't know where I got the idea, but I'm pretty sure there is free WiFi there... wait, here you go:
    http://www.prospectpark.org/visit/plan/wifi
  • That's what I'm doing right now....live from my backyard!!!!

Last week my patio umbrella arrived, so it's shady enough to see my laptop screen. Throw in wireless access, two kitties, tomato plants and voila!
  • ok, i'm half a block from the park, and i have NO internet access from there.

    but i'm game.
  • for the price of some nachos I might let BP come to my garden :-)
  • sadly, if i go anywhere near nachos i will have to get my jaw wired shut. but i could bring iced lattes

yeah, it's really only right in the park. my parents live across the street from it, and i can sometimes get the connection if i'm sitting in one particular place in their room, but other than that, zilch.

    it's called pp_guest.

eh, I don't drink coffee at all (don't like it and I figure if I've made it to 41 without one more bad habit, I don't need to start now).

But if you really do want a few hours outside working, PM me and you can come over
  • Please, please tell me the Wifi works in the park!

I have never found the combo of wifi in the park in an area shady enough to see your laptop screen. I only tried twice, but ended up pissed that I hauled my laptop over there for nothing

ps: brooklynpotter, i've made the connection between here and the appel farm alumni forum that we both went to appel farm...am i right? i was a camper 98-01 and a photo instructor 05-06, with a bit of freelancing last year. i miss it so this summer! silly full-time employment.
  • you are correct. '76-'80.

we have a site other than the appel farm official site: appelfarmemories.com, which i'm working on with ari taub. there are also some AF groups on facebook.
  • i'd hazard a guess there are a lot of us here in bk. i also went to putney, and there are boatloads of alum here
  • i would sit in my backyard but the daycare kids nextdoor are screeeeaaammmiinnnggg
  • oh man, that would make me insane
  • brooklynpotter wrote: oh man, that would make me insane
don't get me started on how this is a daycare open 7 days a week. nothing like waking up at 8am on sunday to 15 kids screaming, or trying to have people over to bbq and having 10 kids screaming at 8 at night. If the sun is up, there's outside... thankfully they don't let them out before 8 as far as I can tell but they're out there at 8:30 at night sometimes.
  • Lol, I said DON'T get me started.
  • Carmen, this sounds like the perfect time for you to take up a musical instrument... perhaps the tuba?... and to constantly practice the scales in your backyard.

Maybe the daycare will close down if enough kids go deaf.
  • better yet, become a voice-over actress and practice blood curdling screams

I like both of these ideas, unfortunately I really would just like to be able to work in peace (and without my clients asking me "where are you, romper -room" when I'm on conference calls.) Yes, seriously, it happened.

edited because bp corrected me ;)
  • abs276, how did you deduce that?

and carmen, sweet young thing. it's romper room. after the tv show.

not only am I young, but I didn't have tv until I was 18. So I'm way out of the loop on most anything tv related.

i can't quite remember...i realized it a week or two ago when i found the alumni forum...and then somehow found the site you created. and maybe a facebook group? i think you had the same username on one of those. am i crazy?

edit: okay, now it's gonna drive me crazy till i figure it out... maybe i just already knew who you were in real life (from your ceramics and here - connection also made months ago and i have no idea how) and then saw your name on the memories site? i'll let it keep me from working for a bit longer though.
  • Help! there's BrooklynPotter in my yard :-)
  • lolol... remember, you have internet. i can read your posts!
