Anyone know how early one needs to show up in the park to claim a grill on a Sunday?

My gf wants to have a BBQ in the park for her bday this Sunday and I'm trying to handle the plans for her.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • I typically show up by 9am if I want to reserve one of the grills located by the Picnic House.
  • The one time I reserved a grill I was there by 8:30 am...they were all claimed for by 10am at the latest.
  • i hate to burst your bubble but there are many times that i am there very early to walk my dog. and by very early i mean 5-6am! on the weekends, the tables are being reserved by this time and by 7 you sometimes see them all taken! don't even think about memorial day, labor day or 4th of july weekends!
  • I had a BBQ there on the first Sunday in June...we showed up around 11:15am and had no problem snagging a grill outside the picnic house...had a choice of three, as i recall.

Maybe Sunday is less popular than Saturday? Also, it was oppressively hot that day....maybe that scared people off.
