Nut Swap
Saw this on CL and had to laugh. We had a $5.50 half pint of pine nuts from Union Marlet and they were delicious, but so expensive.

I needed pine nuts earlier last night and it took me 5 different stores to find them. The first store I walked into had mostly red pistachios. How did they get red? Are they food colored? Do they taste different? The second store I went into had various forms of nut mix, but no containers of pine nuts. The story continues. Eventually I find myself in this store I told myself I’d never buy anything from. Guess what – they had a container of pine nuts for sale. Asking price – $5.50. The kind woman at the checkout counter set a new world record. She had me scanned and signing the receipt within 20 seconds.
“Wow, you’re fast,” I said.
She smiled.
Even though the container of pine nuts is of a rather small size, I still didn’t need to add all the pine nuts to my basil stew. So would anybody like to do a Nut Swap?
What I’m looking for:
1) Almonds
2) Cashews
3) No Peanuts
4) No Mixed Nuts
5) Roasted
6) Not Honey Roasted
7) No Marshmallows Shaped Like Peanuts
8) Yes to nuts that have been dyed red (I never heard of such a thing!)
9) Corn Nuts
If you have any of the above nuts, except for the ones I’m not looking for, I would gladly swap. Please don’t give me like a handful of cashews. That’s what the last freaking guy did. These pine nuts cost $5.50. A fair trade would be if you subtracted two dollars from $5.50 because that’s probably the price of the amount of pine nuts I used in basil food. Now you’re left with $3.50. That’s how much nuts I want.
Yours in Salt,
Jose Tortilla

Maybe the Nuts for Nuts guys would give him something in exchange for the pine nuts not used in his "basil food" or "basil stew"...
What a bizarre ad. Love the anecdote in the middle about the cashier ringing up his one item in 20 seconds! -
I wonder if they'll take my sister. She's definitely a nut :-)
