My front gate was stolen! — Brooklynian

My front gate was stolen!

Didn't have time to post earlier, but today between 12:30 and 1:30 My front yard cast iron gate was stolen. Broad day light, lifted right off the hinge and stolen. My neighbors as well. What is wrong with people? Is it being sold for scrap metal or maybe a an antique dealer I will end up buying it back from.? Bummer....

Comments

  • wow thats horrible, probably resold. they could get scrap easily from other sources.
  • Where was it stolen? ie what block?
  • St. John's West of Bedford.
  • I live on the same block & was home that day. a neighbor noticed that all the gates on the block had been opened/an attempt made...except mine, perhaps because i have a newer, much larger gate. In any case, any with the short original gates, beware.
  • Hey Metals are going up in Price, Thank god you have no golf leaf on your ceiling in the Brownstone then you would have no ceiling. 1000 and OZ
  • While I was walking my dogs today I saw a bunch of front gates chained to a sign post. They all looked like the decorative kind of metal gates except for 1 regular chainlink gate. There were about 5 or 6 of them chained up in front of an enclosed lot across from 933 Pacific St between Grand and Classon. Of course I thought of this thread the moment I saw them. Too bad I don't have a camera or I could have taken a picture so you could see if one was yours!
  • our gate is missing (already was missing when I moved in) and my LL told me it was stolen a while ago (in Windsor Terrace).

    WTF?!

I saw this today as well and just logged on to post the same but you beat me to it. Hope it is a good lead towards the recovery of the stolen gates.
