FBI scam?
My mail today contained a business card from the FBI. It has a name and a phone number and a request for me to call the number. The idea being that I can provide information on someone seeking federal employment. The card is professional - not like a post-it. It has a logo with "Federal Bureau of Investigation" on it and some kind of printing number ID on the back.
The whole things is really weird. I googled the phone number and confirmed that at least the person's name and phone number match, but it's a home phone number.
Has anyone else ever received a card like this? Maybe anyone who resides in my area - the low 20's between 5th and 6th ave.
And shouldn't the FBI have my phone number? Do they really go around leaving cards in people's mail boxes like fresco tortilla menus?

I wouldn't call them.

Neither would I. Sounds fishy to me. Extremely fishy.

I think you receive a call and visit if you're being asked to to provide feedback about a candidate. A friend of mine had a half-hour interview about one of her family members. Maybe it was for a different sort of position? I wouldn't call. You COULD always call the FBI and ask there.
I suppose Albany would be the best field office: http://albany.fbi.gov/ -
I provided a reference for a friend interviewing for an air marshall position. However, I received a letter, not just a business card in my mailbox. I would be careful.
