Dream Come True (Minus the Dirt): No Alternate Side Parking
Comments

Any update on the parking situation in the north-ish slope with the ASP regs suspended? Does it seem easier or more difficult to find a spot in the middle of the day around, say 4th st and 8th ave.
-
BTW, I'm not going to hunt down refs right now, but they have been making noises that they are likely going to put the alternate side back into effect earlier than they originally stated
-
it's pretty damn amazing to me that there's so much more parking now than there was before all this. i wish someone would explain why to me.
my block, usually full from people who don't work and can just doublepark during street cleaning, can be counted on for at least 3-4 spots at any given time. on a late Sunday afternoon, when it's usually really difficult to find anything, it was about six or seven spots.
i don't get it. -
Summer weekend...and the rain last night washed away a lot of people from the park.

They announced it: back to alternate side on July 14.

Alt side parking is marginally useful in keeping the streets clean of leaves and highly useful opening spaces and for collecting fines.
BTW, for my friends on this board holding their collective breath I did leave town for 10 days and my car war right where I left it untouched. -

I also left my car for 10 days in a regular spot on 15th st when there was a holiday (so I didnt have to move it) and I returned from cali with my car in one piece. I did make sure, however, to park it on the corner and under a streetlight. And I will admit I had a touch of panic thinking about it being gone. -
The Monday regulations are going to be particularly tough because it's impossible enough on a Sunday night as it is.

I've always found it really easy to find parking in the summer.
The very worst time to find parking is on a Sunday night - after a big snow.
