    Congratulations!

You should just work 9-5 for the next 2 weeks. Don't you dare take any of that shit home.
  • woot woot!

    Yeah for Alfy!! :alien:
  • requested meetings with both supervisors. so far ... radio silence. nothing is coming home with me except my stuff. trust me.
  • oh, and thanks. I feel like a gigantic weight is off my shoulders. GIGANTIC.
  • Wow. This sounded like a really bad situation for you so I'm glad you made the decision to do what was best for you. I wish you luck!

Will someone there be able to give you a reference or will you have to explain whatever happened at each future interview you have?
  • omg. even better. so.

first, I walk into my office and this guy from the DC office is there. I'm like "er, wait what's going on?" and he's all "is there anything you need help with?" I realized, quite quickly, though I kept my poker face, that they'd been planning to fire me that morning and made sure to have this guy lined up to take over temporarily. so whoa. did I dodge a bullet by resigning. (of course, I'd have the next two weeks off, too, but ... now I've forced my current (almost not) employers to not say they canned me if they get called for a reference/employment confirmation)

then, after about an hour, my immediate boss calls me and informs me (without anything like "I'll be sorry to see you go but congrats on your decision" - you know that professional stuff) that my overtime for last week can't be approved because my billable time for that week wasn't in. okay. so. the deadline for your getting paid time at this firm is monday morning, 10 a.m. the deadline for getting in that same week's billable time is tuesday, close of business. uh. WHAT THE FUCK?

god. what a toxic place. I'm so glad to get the hell out of there! I so made the right decision.
  • oh, and then later on, she informs all of my case teams, without telling me, that I'm resigning and to cc her, the guy from DC and a guy from boston on all work. she ALSO contacts all of my vendors with the same message. again, without telling me.

I figure this out when emails start coming in with all these random people CC'd. good thing I'm actually smarter than these asshats.

this is why I love taking the high road: I always find that everyone else is really the assholes I thought they were.
  • wow, talk about dodging the bullet! Congrats, lady! You must be feeling great.

I feel great. the next two weeks are going to be a xanax in the morning and drinks in the evening haze because the place is so toxic I can barely stand to be civil. but. then I'm doing a green tea/walking everywhere/austerity plan (though I refuse to give up bubbly. I just have to con other people into buying it/buy cases of the cheapest stuff I can stand from delivery joints in the city)

    :D
  • WHEW1 SHIT, thank god you got out of there.

WTF, lets BBQ this weekend girl, I'll buy you some celebratory drinks!

thanks! I never say no to drinks!
  • Best of luck, alafairnadia! Things all happen for a reason and you will bounce back even higher and so much stronger!

That place sounds like a radioactive leech sucking all the life out of it's employees.
