  • Those do sound delicious.
  • I saw the guy from that 1980's tv show Sledgehammer a few times in Gorilla and at the library.
  • Last summer, I saw Common head into Met Foods on Vanderbilt.....he had on his trademark crocheted hat.....
  • Does the GAP farmer's market count? I consider it Prospect Heights.
I saw Jumpa Lahiri (author) and Kathryn Erbe (Law & Order, Criminal Intent), just a few weeks ago. Not together, but at the same farm stand. The one with the guys who have mutton chops (the facial hair, not the meat).

I'm totally shocked. that place SUX. and! if you're on that side of flatbush, just go to the haitian bakery/cafe near 5th ave and bergen or dean (can't remember). real haitian patties are so worth it. christ, wyclef -- I thought you had better taste!

wow. they (Christie's) quite possibly may have the best patties in New York City....and both the coco bread and the actual coconut bread are amazing.

another place that actually has good vegan patties is Healthy Nibbles on the corner of Flatbush and St. Marks, I believe.

  • that was me in the last post. sorry.
  • Concur. Amazing chicken patties at Christies. That and a good cup of coffee is the choice breakfast of this champion.

  • I've only tried the beef patties at Christie's, so I can't comment on the veg or chicken, but I found the beef patties truly horrid. The crust was greasy and soggy and the filling was a soupy mess that seriously lacked spice. The coco bread was good, but I would guess that it's a commercial product, not something they bake on site.
  • My experience with the beef patty was the same - terrible. The chicken is much, much better: flaky crust that's dense in the just the right places, and filling that is nicely spiced and textured. It's one of my biggest cravings.

There's a sign in the window indicating that they now have jerk pork. I'm interested in trying that.

I'll definitely give the chicken patty a try, since several people here have recommended it now.
  • I saw Conan O'Brien coming out of a brownstone on St. Marks btw Flatbush and Carlton a while ago. He was with a woman and another couple.

there was one time where the veggie patty tasted kind of medicine-y, which kept me away for about two weeks but, otherwise, the veggie patties are great.

i remember Brawta's patties being pretty good and huge as well, but its been a while.

i can't think of many better $2 lunch options than Christie's, whether its haute cuisine or not. :)
  • Lil' Miss Muffin and Her Stuffing has really good barbacue chicken patties. It's filled with chunks of chicken, rather than ground chicken. I'm pretty sure they purchase their patties in bulk someplace else, though (maybe Tower Isles).
  • I think it's Golden Krust. I recall seeing a box behind the counter there.

  • Subject: FOXY BROWNS DAD

Alright, so after the 15 minutes it took to settle my tab at soda last night I went outside, and all my friends were talking to "Foxy Browns father"! He was cool, was trying to be discreet about his "identity" though, and called himself "Ballard" (B for short). He then hit me up for "5 dollars" to buy a guinness.

I know she lives or lived around here.. think its possible it was him?
  • Possible...but unlikely. I would assume that she has money, so why would he need to bum $5 off of you? Maybe they're not close or something?

Did you do an internet search for info on her dad (name, if he's still alive, etc)?

    Did he look like her?
  • From AskMen.com:
Foxy and her childhood friend Lil' Kim (who Foxy is often compared to) fantasized about the days that they would be successful in the rap world. It was almost a fairytale and form of escape for Foxy, who did not have a good relationship with her ever-absent father.

    From IMDB:
Both parents are from the 2-island Caribbean nation of Trinidad and Tobago.

From the Hot Spot (a Foxy Brown fan site):
Inga Marchand—better known as Foxy Brown—was born on September 6, 1979. The second of three children, Brown was raised by mother Judith Marchand, who found herself a single parent after her husband abandoned the family.

Sounds like Dad's not getting or deserving any money from Foxy.

    Also: Inga?!
  • he did say he was was from trinidad...
