Preserving Bedford Stuyvesant

From my perspective it is called respect. It is the acknowledgement of one's presence. If I am in close proximity to give a nod, a wave, a smile or a hello to neighbors I know and the one's I don't know or a stranger passing my home while I am the front or the sidewalk coming or leaving my home... I do. I understand that others might not come from the same culture as me. If I speak to someone who comes from the same or another culture and they chose to ignore the sound of my voice and not acknowledge my greeting... yes, I believe they are being rude but I don't disdain people for not returning a greeting.

I agree... let's get back to preserving Bedford Stuyvesant beautiful brownstones. I think one of the ways not to destroy the front facade is not to install the small satellite disc dish or allow the cable companies to run mounds of cable wire in the front (sometimes it is dangling off the roof and the black cable is running down the front or drilled and fasten any kind of way into the stone) whether it is a private home or a converted resident apartment building.

I recently passed by a brownstone that had 4 satellite dishes in the front from the ground floor to the 4th floor. The dishes took away from the charm of the brownstone and it's curb appeal. It was obvious to me the house had 4 tenants. If I was the owner I would have a policy that satellite dishes are only allowed on the roof. I wouldn't want the satellite dishes to ruin the back view of my house either.
