Re-damaged metal fence on 6th/6th

Anyone see this?

For years the building on 6th/6th was a bit of a slum until years ago it was redeveloped (pretty well, actually) into condos? apts? I'm not sure...

Anyway...

When they first started renting them out last year a car drove into their wrought iron fence on the corner and demolished it. It was evetually repaired but this past weekend someone drove their car into it again and totally demolished it.

WTF? Anyone know what happened?

    Nasty car accident Monday night. I don't know the details, just that the 2 cars were pretty badly damaged.

    I was there shortly after, coming home from my bf's house. An SUV was over the fence, halfway up the tree. Another car was damaged as well. Not sure what caused it - just that both cars were towed (I live on 5th St, just down from 6th Ave), and ambulances and police were all on site. My understanding was everyone involved was all right, but yes, it's for some reason a particularly dangerous corner. Cars DO go too fast on 6th Ave, and if you're going too fast, your reaction time is limited.
