Long Tan in Park Slope?

Haven't been there in awhile. How is it? I've always had regular sit-down meals -- how is the bar menu?

  • it was quite good last time I went, it was for Valentines Day. I found some of their combinations interesting, but a little too far out there, but generally they've been good.
  • always found it to be a solid place, both bar and restaurant.

curiously enough, a new thai place opened up a block away, a couple of storefronts down from the former Apropos Cafe location. if we can tolerate 32,000 sushi places, we can probably support as many thai joints.
  • Has anyone been to that Thai place yet?

My tastebuds were off the other night when I walked the block looking for dinner with a friend-we saw the new Thai and considered it, but moved on. Ultimately, we settled on the V Spot- both first timers there.

    loved it.
    freaking loved it.

Really? You loved V-Spot? Even the serious vegetarians here didn't seem to like that place much.

Here's a previous thread about the place:

  • Well- it seems inflated- I don't want to say "fancy" vegetarian- and nothing comparable to the down to earth vegetarian restaurants I've been to, much less a vegetarian co op at my school that I loved (and I'm not even vegetarian)- there was a lot of heart and soul in the place...

...but we were tentative to try the bandeja paisa, thinking it couldn't be halfway decent as a vegetarian option and it ended up having its own great taste. Then we had this ridiculously dense chocolate pb dessert that hit the spot. It wasn't busy or loud and our water was incredibly nice, so we enjoyed the experience-and I am interested in going back to try a few other things.
  • I passed Long Tan a few weeks ago an it appeared to be closed down.
  • Subject: Long Tan

I used to go to Long Tan every few months. It was good for large dinner groups. But in the last 2 years, the food's been fairly tasteless. Its too bad.
