Playdates? Medium-sized dogs...

My year-old dog, Berkeley has been a minor fixture on the Pets board since we brought him home in January....he is making lots of wonderful progress, but needs some help with his socialization. Specifically, he needs some help learning to speak "dog" and our trainer has recommended small, supervised playgroups.

Would anyone be up for organizing a playgroup - maybe 3-4 dogs so it's not overwhelming - for some toy-free puppy playtime?

  • I live in Clinton Hill and have two friendly, medium sized dogs--Charlie and Parker--and a foster named Ginger. They certainly wouldn't mind making a new friend! I've had a few foster dogs come through and, though Charlie and Parker can be rowdy and hospitable to the point of annoyance, they've always taken well to each other. Too bad we don't have a dog run around here!

Your dog is beautiful--is he/she just a little shy? Mine were the same way. They were both abused and found on the streets (poor Parker didn't have a hair on his body when I got him), but you wouldn't know it by looking at their spoiled arses now! (I tried to post a picture for effect but couldn't figure it out).
  • Berkeley was also abused/found on the street and has made huge strides with his people-trust issues. The problem is that he doesn't know how to play :-( He tries, but isn't really very well versed in puppy-social-niceties yet. He's very sweet, though, and tries hard. I think he would do better with a smaller group of friends than he encountered at daycare.

I'll PM you and we can try to set something up!
