  • the camera work on this one is painful, but it's better than the rancid cover:

  • oh man. and this is awesome. fuck. last concert I went to with a decent pit everyone in it was 10 years (AT LEAST) younger than me and I was pretty sure I'd die if I went in, though I attempted it (couldn't get past the outer wall). but god, awesome, especially because fugazi ALWAYS kept their pits safe:

  • ooh. speaking of pits (god I'm bored) I didn't realize security now surrounds them?? check this shit out ... I've been in a slayer pit before (same location as fugazi, in fact -- the cameo theater on miami beach) and it looked like this, minus the big guys in yellow whatsits that could pull you out if your ass was getting kicked:

Last decent pit I was in was DFA 1979 at the Bowery Ballroom 2 or 3 years ago.

  • Last time i saw Fugazi was in 1999 in MUNICH Germany, but they did not play any of the songs from repeater and everyone was pissed off, it was a good concert though but they only played brand new material so it kind of was a waste of time. Bad Manners also played that night they were fucking amazing!!!
  • ahh. I fucked up. the MSI concert I wanted to see was last month. whoops. and missed the faint. again. I fail. no pits for me.
  • godamnit. carnivore: we MUST hit an MSI show. that's where the pit was too ugly for me (in vegas - some other board members were there with me and I actually lost my lipstick in one of their purses while I made my attempted entrance (and no, it wasn't cute. I came back drenched and elbowed by like 15 asshats BEFORE I made it to the pit!!! - I clearly needed you for cover))

    music:

and I love, how in this last clip, security has to pull the chick guitarist back out of the pit. awesome fucking shows these folks do. awesome.
  • Fugazi sucks.

    Minor Threat rules.

    That is all.

    Early Fugazi does not suck.

    It sucks less.

But still pales against Minor Threat.

wait, what?! fugazi rules! of course ... so does black flag and minor threat. but. you want a real throwdown? bikini kill takes them all! (and an awesome fucking show at the middle east - got my ass kicked in that pit ... all girls!) and kathleen hanna (as well as a few other members of the northwest's 90s scene) is one of my personal heroes and has been for like ... the last 17 years or something absurd. LOVE her. (and yeah, for the record, also love sleater kinney & le tigre, both of which are more my speed NOW. but back then? "double dare ya girlfuckingfriend yeah!")

double dare ya (I love that they left the beginning of this in - I've loved it since I first heard it and still do. they're like "wait, wtf, we're confused. oh. it works. REVOLUTION!"):
