Seeking dog sitter or kennel recs

Hi, we need to board our small dog for a week at the end of July. Would appreciate any recommendations in or around Park Slope. We'd also be interested in info on local pet sitters.

Thanks in advance for any info!

  • I have heard good things about Dog's Den on 5th Ave.

  • I've used Brooklyn Doghouse on Douglass between 3rd and 4th avenues for years. They're great, have a dedicated, friendly staff and are very reliable and reasonably priced. They monitor the playrooms very well--both my dogs always had a great time, never any issues. Your dog also gets a free bath if he stays longer than three days, so he won't be all smelly when you pick him up.

  • My two just returned from a week at Glencadia Farms upstate. www.glencadiadogcamp.com. They had a great time and, though I was out of the country, I didn't have to worry about them at all because they post daily video blogs of the dogs. Also, it's a place that isn't too prissy and allows dogs to be dogs, both playing off leash outdoors and interacting with other dogs. They have free pick up and drop off and the dogs come back bathed and spent. Truthfully, I'd have preferred a week at the the dog camp than the week I spent overseas for work!
