Subject: what's the story with circles?

the windows are still covered in paper.

but...

i was in bay ridge over the weekend and i saw two circles restaurants, one with the same awning as the one here, and one that says "the original"... (i went by "our" circles, it also says "the original". i thought that their name came from the fact they're on the circle. silly me.

  • The name Circles comes from the type of bread that the restaurants use - pita - which is circular. The original Circles, I'm pretty sure, was the one at the Junction (Flatbush and Nostrand) - it closed in the 80's but many other Circles opened in different areas of Brooklyn since then.
  • you may want to check with Obamanut, who at one time was employed at Circles and may be able to advise if the Bay Ridge and PPW restaurants were related
  • I heard a similar bar / restaurant would be opening there soon. It’d be under new management and have a different name.

Hopefully it won't suck as hard as Circles did. Such a great location
