    Post Hoc Ergo Propter Hoc.

That place is as clean as any other falafel joint in Brooklyn and cleaner than most. Still you never know. Tahini is a food poisoning culprit.

Actually, vegetables can be one of the biggest sources of food poisoning when they're not washed properly or are mishandled in the kitchen.

This has nothing to do with Sam's in particular, I'm just sayin.

This is true. Salad-type items are partiularly common offenders because if they get contaminated, there's no cooking process to eliminate bacteria.
Incidentally, the most common food contaminant to cause bloody diarrhea in the U.S. is actually Campylobacter, followed by E. coli 0157:H7, Shigella, and Salmonella (although in one case series from California Shigella was #1). It doesn't matter much because the treatment's the same for all of them. Regular E. coli is not actually a pathogen, just a marker of fecal contamination (not that that's a pleasant concept either).

And they all learned something that day...

Oh, and there go my plans for sushi, or just, hmmm, FOOD for that matter, this evening ... or tomorrow ... or the next day ...

Thank you. Thank you very much.

    :P
