Hi,

I am looking for my Parrot. He flew out of my apartment building on St. Marks Ave.. between Classon and Franklin on the 4th of July. We miss him very much and hope that he is ok. If anyone has found him please contact me. Thank you for all your help.

  • is that the actual picture of your bird? I actually saw a Parrot or Parakeet in prospect park this morning on a bench. I don't remember the red or green that's in that picture, it was mostly yellow.

Anyway, it was hanging out on a bench along the path that runs on the other side of the meadow across from the picnic/BBQ area next to the picnic house.

Maybe a long shot but it might be worth strolling around that area of the park and keeping your eyes open.
  • thanks, I'll definitely do that.
  • I'll keep an eye out.
  • This is an actual picture of him by he way. Except now he would have a bare patch over his left eye where feathers would be growing back.
  • sorry you've lost your pet. if it's any consolation, they tend to do well in the wild.
  • maybe the bird we'll hook up with his cohorts at Brooklyn & Queens Colleges or the numerous wild parrots I've seen near 79th St. boat basin.
  • So this is a long shot...but I'm a bird person and thought I heard a parrot sounding call the other day on my way home from the train.

I never saw the bird, only a few whistles exchanged, but it definitely didn't sound like one of the locals. Could have been a Conure for sure.

I wasn't positive but it sounded like my whistle buddy was in the big tree overhanging Park Pl, a couple houses in from Vanderbilt. If I remember right it was sort of mid-afternoonish (like 4pm or so)...maybe a favorite treat will do the trick?

    Good luck!!!
  • Since there haven't been any updates on this in a couple of weeks, I'm going to unsticky it and move it to the pets board.
  • Thanks for the tip. He's not much of a whistler tho, more of a really loud , obnoxious screecher. He's still out there somewhere. hopefully he will find his way home before it starts to get cold out. If anyone has more info PLEASE POST. I've been following-up on tips from everyone, even went on a wild goose chase to new lots Ave., and kensington.
