I just had the most hedonistic thought

instead of chicken and waffles, what about marrow and waffles? can you imagine? all frenchyfied and pretty - some marrow bones dotted around a petite waffle - the crevices would be perfect for the marrow. oh wow. I'm a genius.

  • I'm there, let's make this happen!
  • I'm so sorry, I'm new here - totally don't understand your topic... A little help?
  • Are you talking about fried zucchini or fried haematopoietic stem cells?
  • So long as no one touches my classic osso buco dish (woo, crossword today made me hongree), sure, I'd concurrently take a waffle on a side plate. With powdered sugar thx.

    :clown:
  • Yeah........... :-k

    I don't...........I don't know what's going on here either.

Ok , I'm derailing- My head hurts. :( .....and I can't feel my left foot.......:( It went nite nite. :-$
  • god. has no one here ever had marrow bones? (other than mama?)

Srsly! She's talking some WD-50 shit! Some good eats!

Listen, read chowhound for a while and then check back.

-yes, It's hot outside and I'm grumpy! Plus now I want some guinness pancakes with stewed marrow, syrup and bacon.......
  • I just hope some restaurant chef reads this and makes a small fortune charging $19 per small plate or something. maybe I'll talk to the beast folks ...
  • I don't know if they have it on their summer menus but both SPC and Prune have marrow bones
  • I've had the marrow bones at prune. delicious. I guess I was just thinking in a vaguely ironic - take something "high-brow" and combine it with something very "down-home". prune rules, though. radishes with salt and butter. ugh. I should go back when I have income.
  • how do you digest marrow bones?
  • Hamilton wrote: how do you digest marrow bones?
scoop out the innards, spread on some bread product. take bones home, freeze them, fed ex them to mom's dogs.

  • Excuse me, very much mamacita & flexichick!!! I actually thought alafairnadia was joking - I didn't realize that people really eat this.
  • no no, no joke. sorry that the prune menu has changed but this is a pretty classic peasant dish in various med countries. in those countries, it's like cheap. but. here, at prune (on the menu I ate off of) I'm pretty sure that was like $19 - without the waffle aspect. maybe $14? but yeah, people eat this ... and love it. :)
  • This is what it looks like, when they have it, at SPC...image
  • Thanks alafainadia for the explanation. It actually sounds kinda yummy, sans waffles - now chicken & waffles, I'm down for!!
  • Great picture!! Now I understand...

I took your advise, but it didn't work out so well, as Mom had a vision problem and thought the bones were for her, she is being laid out at Duffy's Funeral home on 9th St.

Thats the last time I'll ask for advice.(':(')

in my childhood home, we had a special marrow spoon, double-ended (one side for bigger bones, one for narrower, or one side to get the main marrow of a large bone, one for clean up).

looked more or less like this:
