Police activity at Bartell Prichard Sq last night

I was coming home around 11PM and noticed an unusual concentration of police cars by the pharmacy. A large area had been closed and taped off.
Same around the main entrance to the park - yellow tape all over and police/private investigators. Anyone knows what was going on?

    I saw something on Brownstoner about a teenager getting stabbed on PPW last night...maybe the same thing? did a quick news search and didn't see anything though.

    High school student stabbed 9 times. He is recovering from surgery and should be OK.

    Bartel Prichard area is known for nickel and dime pot dealers who draw lowlifes from other neighborhoods and this activity is totally ignored by the 78th Pct.

    Its not unusual to see 12 and 13 year old kids hanging out till 11 pm nightly with these scumbags, they even stoll up the path with them when they go in the park to get stoned.

    I was thinking about writing a TV show called , Pct 78th ,Where are You?

    i was actually on a run last night (which oddly NEVER happens) and was there at around 10:30, maybe a bit earlier. Anyway, there was a LOT of comotion, bunch of people yelling and screaming, people around on PPW looking. One guy even wanted to go intervene and his girlfriend/friend was like "don't go, you're gonna get yourself hurt"

    At first I wanted to check out what was going on but needed to get back to my apartment b/c I had chicken in the oven and had someone coming over to buy something I posted on craigs list. PLUS it really did seem like something super sketchy was happening and didn't want to get caught up in it somehow, so I just kept running right on home.

    Sorry, I know this isn't much info but something definitely did go down last night over there (I guess that's obvious now since we know there was a stabbing) but there were certainly more than 2 people were involved and there seemed to be some sort of dispute/argument.

    i notice so much activity of ne'er do wells on bartel (sp?) pritchard square each day -- not to mention, sickening traffic violations committed by crazy people driving around the circle that are likely to some day result in a
    accidents. how do i get involved? whom do i call? the precinct office? the borough prez? does anyone have any experience being a concerned community member?

    Good question. My hubby sees the same guy dealing on the Circle Square almost daily. What can we do about it? Whom to report it to? How to help without endangering yourself?

    I spoke with a community activist today and mentioned your concerns [CKNY,KATBKA] and he said there will be a community meeting in Sept.
    He recommends sending Registered letters to the following, who he will have attend.

    He said to voice your concerns and advise them you want an immediate resolution to the drug activity in Bartel Prichard Sq.

    The fact that this has been going on for over a year and nothing has been done to end it and there has been a recent stabbing which may be the start of additional violence ,which has the community concerned .

    If nothing is done the Press will be contacted and in attendance at the Sept. meeting which could prove to be very embarassins that a group of street punks can't be dislodged from the community.

    These are his words and suggestions and he asked if the problem is not addressed and you are really interested ,would you have time to distribute flyers the week before the meeting so there will be a large turnout and let the Police know we want a resolution .

    wow - thanks a lot. please let us know when the sept. meeting is planned. if you post on this board and we all help spread the word, i think we could get some very good attendance at the meeting. i do think this is a fixable situation.

    Do you think some of the police indifference is because the circle is right on the border of two precincts? Although, I suppose that probably doesn't stop cops from patrolling, say, Eastern Parkway.

    As an addendum, it's worth noting that Bartel Pritchard Square is NOT Eastern Parkway, nor is the drug activity in Park Slope/Windsor Terrace necessarily on a scale to be a borough-wide priority. But, granted, I don't know what else the 78th Precinct spends its time doing.

    Both precincts need to attend so they can stop pointing fingers at each other. I said this during the last meeting and everybody agreed (but let's see it actually happen)

    We need pylons at the turn into PPSW. All three lanes are being used and it's incredibly unsafe.

    We also need the f..king pestilent vagrants at Bartel Pritchard dealt with. Period. I love that we have murder, robbery, breaking and entering, assault, rape, all in one summer in our neighborhood, and absolutely nothing is done about these derelicts.
