Sadly. this is no longer the case. The nice man on the phone - who I'm sure is sick of answering iQuestions - told me that they are taking orders for phones arriving in 10-21 business days. Boo.
  • Waited in line at the SoHo store after checking that they would have stock this morning.

The website was wrong. They only had about 15 phones total, and I was not one of the first 15 in line. Mercifully, we were informed shortly after 9am.
  • The availability listings look more and more green every day, but still going to hold out a few more days (at least).

I think Nomad has fallen in love and left us for good :-)
  • Anybody buy one lately? I want to get one on Thursday and wondering how it's going now in the Manhattan stores
  • The lines are supposed to be shorter now. There's a daily update on the racked site - http://racked.com/

    Good luck!
  • I just heard today that they are going to start selling them at Best Buy (and maybe other stores?) in September. If you can wait, that should kill the lines to less or nothing. Maybe that means you will be able to activate at home too??
  • Yah, I read about the Best Buy too....but I have to take a 2 week trip and I'd like to do it before I go...that said, if I go and it's a hassle, I'll have to do it when I come back.

I'm wondering if I bought one in CA if they could transfer my 917 or if you have to buy in your billing state or something stupid.
  • Yeah, I haven't gotten one yet - I'm practicing patience... just not in a damn iPhone line.
  • am going to swing by SoHo store today and see what happens. Not going to wait in a crazy line though
  • Flexi, you can buy it where ever it goes to your billing addy.. and why would you have to wait on a line at the apple store?
  • Um, there are still lines...long lines...in some stores.

That said, I got one! I got one! Yay!

SoHo. Went at 11ish - out in 45 minutes. That said, at lunch time the line was ENORMOUS.

    16gb...black...with a hot pink case.

Getting used to the keypad is tough - I keep typing the wrong letters. Going to have to re-train my fingers
  • i HATED that keyboard, i switched right back to my blkberry after a month. it was TO ME. a waste of potential .. thats so crazy that it is still a line to buy 1 of those things.. well have fun with it flexi post some good photos !!
  • it takes a while to get used to the keyboard. the autocorrect is quite accurate though, trust it. it's not perfect, but it certainly speeds up my typing.

no. you can buy it anywhere you want, and just tell them you want to transfer your number. i bought mine when i was in CA, transfered my 646 number from tmobile to att, and still using my ny add as the billing add. i know this doesnt matter to you now since you already got one  have fun with the new toy!
  • I love it so far, except battery life seems pretty crappy (even with 3G turned off) and I just ordered a stylus to see if that helps w keyboard. It sure is purty though :-)
  • i extend my battery life by turning down the brightness.
  • Hah, thanks KN, hope you don't mind if I swipe that for my sig.

I did that with my blackberry. It helps a lot. I'll do the same with iPhone. Thanks for reminding me
  • wait, that costs $100
  • how much are people paying for iphone plans - like, after data/text/tax/charges?
