Pavilion Theatre - Incompetent Uncaring: Beware!

I will say this.....no A/C happens in the best of theaters. I've sat through hot movies at a lot of great NYC theaters. Don't judge them on that.
However, DO judge them ont hat fact that some of those smaller rooms have smaller screens than some of my friends' living rooms. -
The UA Court Street theater is just a terrible complex. Jo518's description of the matubator in the restroom is a good example of the creepyness of this place.

There isn't? There used to be, then, up by Stuyvesant. I saw Mel Gibson's Passion there. -

last time i was there, they caught a guy hiding out in the women's restroom stall masturbating for hours.

Subject: A/C still broken
I just called and asked them if it had been fixed because I would have gone if it had (too lazy to head into Manhattan). She answered, "It's being worked on." And then she actually asked, "Why?" I just said "Thank you" and hung up. -
Eyewitless News loves to cover stuff like this....anybody feel like droppin' a dime on them?
-
well, I'm planning to go see wanted tomorrow with a friend. hopefully we won't be silly enough to go there.

i definetly would drop the dime but can't do it because I haven't even stepped foot in there in years. We need someone who has been there within last few weeks.. There must be someone? -
Was there last night to see Dark Knight and it seems they've heard the news. The AC was up so high we were shivering.

Were you in little screening room on 1st floor or in big screening room on 3rd floor? -
Haven't been to the Pavilion in years because they were pissing me off w/ the constant underlighting of their films.
Cheap theaters seem to believe that showing a film at full brightness costs them money in either film wear or light bills, but they always seem to forget that people just stop going to see the damn movies.
UA Court's Hancock was also dimly projected - I hope that was a one-off and not a portend of bullshit to come. -
just saw wanted at UA court st. awesome.

I remember that too! I stopped going to Pavilion a while ago though, too cramped and the HVAC system was so noisy! I really miss the Flatbush one. I saw LOTR3 there, and it was one of the best movie experiences of my life. They closed the wrong theater in my opinion. -
Hmm, I've never had a major problem at Court Street and have been going there for 2 years now (not coincidentally, it's been two years since I've been to the Pavilion). I've had the occasional jackass talking on their cell phone (also a problem at the Pavilion) but I've yet to sit down and have the seat collapse or find a bunch of nacho chips glues to the screen with cheese.

That's hilarious.
They caught him right before my wife walked in to. He walked out, claiming he was just in the stall for a while because he had to take a "mad dump" and went into the first restroom he saw. Sure, buddy.
He was apparantly in there for a VERY long time. -
He's probably from the Hands On School of Management
I'm amazed some of our posters didn't assume he's a Republican -

The big one. brrrrrr. -
I was a bit wary of The Pavillion after reading this thread, but I went there to see The Dark Knight yesterday and had no problem. They alternate showing it in the big theater and one of their tiny theaters; there's a sign on the ticket window telling you which showings will be in the big vs tiny theaters. I got stuck in the tiny theater, but luckily we got there a half hour early. You have to get in a half hour early to get a decent seat in the tiny theater; it filled up almost immediately, even though it was an early afternoon weekday showing. The A/C was working well, thankfully.
So advice before going to see The Dark Knight at the Pavillion: 1)Arrive Early!! 2)Get inside early-- at least 30 mins before showtime; 3)Ask if the A/C is working before buying your tix.
