Last time I shipped vehicles to LA and back was maybe 7 years ago. Cost average 900 each way depending on insurance value. I would estimate the prices have doubled by now. They would tell me a week to 10 days, but it always took at least two weeks. Open air trailers are cheaper than enclosed. Door to door costs more.
Most companies are just brokers buying space on trucks. Call around for best price. Can't make any referrals, its been a while.
  • when my folks sent me my dad's old car from houston to boston they found one of those services where someone basically wants to drive from point a to point b (in this case hippy europeans who'd been hiking all over national parks in the southwest) and it cost like $350. but the gas prices were also included. so I'm thinking that'd be quadrupled now.
  • wow, how do you find drivers like that? and how do you make sure they dont run away with your car and sell it?
  • they don't get paid up front. not sure what the service is called and given my phone card thread, you can see how getting in touch with my folks to find anything out is like impossible. but maybe just google? they are legit, though. I just don't know what they're called. sorry!
  • oh it's fine, haha. i was just picturing myself if i were the driver who offers to drive the car, i could get more cash by selling the car than doing the driving service.

*if only i know how to drive* ](*,)
  • hahaha. you can't drive?! I can teach you that! easy as pie. even standard.
