IKEA free shuttle bus in brooklyn
This cracked me up! :P from brownstoner.com
The Daily News reports that "countless commuters" are using the free Ikea shuttle service instead of city buses, saving $2 and, in some cases, shortening their commutes. "It's like a free car service," says a woman who takes the Ikea bus from Downtown to where she works in Red Hook. "It takes us straight downtown and I don't have to wait for the bus to stop every block to let people on and off." The paper found that only eight of 19 passengers on a recent trip were actually going to Ikea. One shuttle driver said that many of his morning passengers are actually patients at a methadone clinic. A spokesperson for Ikea says the company supports "mass transit, and if people are using our services and not going to Ikea, that's fine with us as well."

good attitude, ikea.
we went to ikea via the free water taxi sunday, and it rocked. if the taco stands EVER open, i think we'll go via sweden. -
I was hoping the water taxi would start operating earlier in the morning for commuting too.

Took the free bus yesterday, sunday, mid-afternoon. Very quick, Ikea was packed but not more so than other Ikeas I've been to.
.50 cent hotdogs and $1 cinnamon buns
saw a rug and a mirror I might go back to buy. -
let's not forget the $1.99 meatball kid's meal. and the e-mail campaign to make ikea carry deodorant (dude, it's hot out there) and sell giant cups of beer (dude, it's hot out there).

Well, there is Glögg...

but I don't think there's actual booze in that. I think that's the pre booze version. or at least, that's what they'll have at ikea. and ikea is so much more fascinating when you're totally jacked.

Heh, yeah. I think it's a snowed-in Scandinavian shut-in's improvised Robitussin, packaged like it's some kind of Swedish sangria.
Heh. Perhaps they should bribe the Belgians to do some Lingenberry Lambic.
Not for us, just to keep the rest of the folks away from the regular beer.
And yes, I s'pose with enough drinks, the retail hedge maze that is Ikea takes on a whole new amusing dimension (or several).

:compress: :thumleft:
Complete with meatballs, cinnamon rolls, sofas and some dude on a steel drum at the finish line. (Hoo-wahhh...) -
let's just say I lost myself in the fabric department imagining dresses and had to continually get acquired by the group I was with. I was also fascinated by an oil can. no. I was not stoned. that would have been even more awesome. oh. we also walked in totally anti-traffic. awesome.

Heh, get drennk and play salmon.
Or go into those 400sf design example areas (or maybe the closets section) and play MOLECULES!
Quick. Call Improv Everywhere. -
Glad I'm not the only fabric section junkie! Now all I need is to find a good a-line shift pattern. Damn, I wish my mom kept all her sewing patterns from the 60s & 70s. Ooh, how awesome would it be to make a bag out of some of those prints? By the way, their blueberry preserves on a crisp bread with cream cheese is my new favorite breakfast.

Anyone have a sewing machine and doesn't mind me coming over? I'll bring sangria and I used to make hats and bags as a teen... I might still remember enough to manage a hobo bag.

I don't think you need a sewing machine for a hobo bag.
