Subject: Old D'agostino's Space

Ok, so BofA took a part of it, Five Guys took another part and it looks like there is still room left for another tenant. Anybody know the scoop?

  • I'll vote for a coffee place that's:
    1. open early
    2. clean
    3. locally owned
  • But, you know it is gonna be a cell phone store or another bank
  • Yah, we know what people want and don't want, but does anybody know what it might actually BE?
  • i believe there is still a for rent sign in the last portion, so it's going to BE abandoned for the time being...
  • Five Girls Hotdogs? Haven't a clue but hopefully will be rented soon.
  • my bf was in La bagel Delight on 7th (and 5th) and he said all the guys there were complaining as they had heard that A BAGEL PLACE was going up in the new/old d'agnostino's place.

they supposedly went on to bemoan how 'there's no more respect' in the world as why would someone want to put up a bagel place less than 3 blocks away from another?!?

sadly ONE of them won't last...

so that's the latest scoop I heard....
  • Interesting....thanks Chaplin'smom.
  • Unless it's an H&H Bagels I don't think Delight has anything to worry about.
  • The team at La Bagel is a marvel of efficiency every weekend. I doubt any new-comer could compete with them at customers throughput. But La Bagel doesn't have any seating. A new bagel store that had seating and a nice lunchtime destination atmosphere would be a welcome addition to the street.

(of course we'll probably get a poorly run sh-t hole so La Bagel has nothing to worry about)
  • i live up by la bagel delight near carroll street and i think it kinda sucks. i don't mind the bagels themselves, but the place is run horribly.

i'd be happy to have another bagel place (please H&H!!) with people who know how to run a store, keep the line moving and not be rude.

the one up here also has ridiculous hours.

if a new place opens, all it needs to do is stay open past 7pm and it will be a success.
  • Hierarchy of bagels in and around Park Slope:

    1. Bagel Hole
    2. Terrace Bagels
    3. Place at 5th Ave and 18th whose name I forget
    4. Brooklyn Bread
    5. La Bagel Delight
    6. Bagel World
  • bergen bagels is good too, in my opinion.
  • maybe someone should suggest the space be rented to Babeland who can merge with the Bagel Hole and their vibrating bagels could fill a lot of needs .
