TeaLounge Closing? — Brooklynian

TeaLounge Closing?

I just walked by the TeaLounge on 7th avenue and the sign says its closing today? What is going to be in its place? No more banks!

This area needs a place you can go in and have snack and do some reading. Tired of all banks popping up (the one opening soon on corner of 10th street and 8 avenue looks horrible on the street)!

  • regarding the corner of 10th st and 8th, is it really bank that is opening? and is the church next to it really still a church? i dont see a sign on it anymore.
  • what are you talking about 10th and 8th. They are building condos there. You must be mixed up.
  • do a search on this forum. Been discussed at length. (p.s. the banks v. cell phone store v. "what does PS really need?" conversation discussed many times too)
  • On the corner of 10th and 8 avenue near Subway stop there is a sign that a bank is going to be there soon. So condos will be on top I guess but a bank will be there too.
  • i thought it was just a sign of the bank that finance the building or somekind. i didnt know that it is really a bank that is opening up. do you know what bank will it be?
  • I'm pretty sure the bank with its ugly logo is just financing the construction
  • I second that - the sign said - "This project is financed by Capital One"
  • By the way, I saw quite a few retail places for rent. Rather than closing its doors, may be the tea lounge can just move to another location? Or did the owner decide it wasn't a profitable business?

They have two other locations listed. They left their ratty benches.
  • Ratty benches gone. :)
  • Subject: A dark corner (no more TL)

I was never a fan of the drinks there or the service or the skanky furniture etc but gosh - I really dislike the dark corner of 10th St coming home from work late at night. Please let whatever moves in there be SOCIAL!
  • Who needs ATMs when there is no place to spend cash?

After all of the cafes and unique businesses are replaced by banks in Park Slope, no one will want to live here anymore. Park Slope will be known as ATM alley. Every homeless man will have his own bank to sit in front of.
  • In the present economic climate, banks are not rushing to open more branches. They are actually thinking of retrenching.
  • and actually park slope is under-banked.

i have no idea why people say there are so many banks in park slope.

    it's simply not true.
