Vanderbilt and what? What's the name?
-
Im not sure of the name its a storefront on Vanderbilt between Bergen and St. Marks - I tried to walk by last night to catch another glimpse but the gates were down.
-
Hmm, this is news to me. Will look out for it.
-
I went in there a month ago and it was pretty sparse and the installations were ok. If anything it seemed like more of a front than any of the bodegas if you ask me.
Oh yeah, on of the pieces was composed of tape, stuck intricately to the wall, I have no idea how they planned to actually sell it. -
i believe that the gallery has been there for quite a while. the curator/owner is this wonderful older cooky french woman. i met her at beast one night a few months ago. she is struggling to keep it open. please pop in and give her feedback if the current works are boring. and, i am not an artist..but i think she would be open to local artist's works.

When I was there it was an older gentleman, I think if they want to stay in business maybe they should have some stuff the one could actually purchase like prints and stuff. Large animal sculptures and stuff taped to the wall seems impractical.
I would be nice to have a gallery for local artists. -
talking about art is like talking about politics...no one ever agrees.
-
Unfortunately the gallery owned by the "French woman" closed back in February. The only other gallery in that block is called Concepto and is owned by a very nice guy. I think he is Japanese. I personally don't care what art they have as long as they stay open. The more businesses we have on Vanderbilt Ave, the more likely it is to have other businesses open.

Hallelujah, BDZ, the more businesses on Vanderbilt, the better.
